JOB DESCRIPTION
School Principal:

 Reports to Superintendent
• Supervises all school personnel, directly and/or indirectly
• Purpose: To serve as the chief administrator of a school in developing and implementing
policies, programs, curriculum activities, and budgets in a manner that promotes the
educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff
member.
• General Planning: conceptualizes the broad goals of the school and plans accordingly to
ensure that procedures and schedules are implemented to carry out the total school
program.
• General Coordination: ensures that the school program is compatible with the legal,
financial and organizational structure of the school system. The principal defines the
responsibilities and accountability of staff members and develops plans for interpreting the
school program to the community.
• Enhancement of Personnel Skills: provides activities which facilitate the professional
growth of the school staff and enhance the quality of the instructional program.
• School Objectives: identifies the annual objectives for the instructional, extracurricular, and
athletic programs of the school.
• Curriculum Objectives: ensures that instructional objectives for a given subject and/or
classroom are developed, and involves the faculty and others in the development of specific
curricular objectives to meet the needs of the school program. The principal provides
opportunities for staff participation in the school program.
• Establishes Formal Work Relationships: evaluates student progress in the instructional
program by means that include the maintaining of up-to-date student data. The principal
supervises and appraises the performance of the school staff.
• Facilitates Organizational Efficiency: maintains inter-school system communication and
seeks assistance from central office staff to improve performance. The principal maintains
good relationships with students, staff, and parents. The principal complies with
established lines of authority.
• New Staff and Students: orients and assists new staff and new students and provides
opportunities for their input in the school program.
• Community: encourages the use of community resources, cooperates with the community in
the use of school facilities, interprets the school program for the community, and maintains
communication with community members.
• Supplies and Equipment: manages, directs, and maintains records on the materials, supplies
and equipment which are necessary to carry out the daily school routine. The principal
involves the staff in determining priorities for instructional purposes.
• Services: organizes, oversee, and provides support to the various services, supplies, material,
and equipment provided to carry out the school program. The principal makes use of
community resources.

School head teacher:

To provide professional leadership for the school which


secures its success and improvement, ensuring high quality education for all its students
and good standards of learning and achievement.

Main tasks of head teacher

1. Strategic direction and development of the school


1.1 Provide inspiring and purposeful leadership for the staff and students.
1.2 To work in partnership with the governing body, staff and parents generating the ethos and
values which will underpin the school.
1.3 To continue to implement a Development Plan which will secure continuous school
improvement.
1.4 To monitor and evaluate the performance of the school and respond and report to the
governing body as required.
1.5 To ensure that management, finances, organization and administration of the school
supports its vision and aims.
1.6 To ensure that school policies and practices take account of national, local and school
requirements.
1.7 To monitor, evaluate and review the impact of policies, priorities and targets of the school
in practice, and take action if necessary.
1.8 To ensure that all those involved in the school are committed to its aims, motivated to
achieve them, and involved in meeting long, medium and short term objectives and targets
which secure the educational success of the school.

2. Teaching and learning


2.1 Continue to maintain an environment that promotes and secures good teaching, effective
learning, high standards of achievement and good behavior.
2.2 Determine, organize, implement and monitor the curriculum and its assessment and ensure
that statutory requirements are met.
2.3 Ensure that students develop study skills in order to learn more effectively and with
increasing independence.
2.4 Determine, organize and implement a policy for the personal, social and moral
development of students.
2.5 Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning and standards of achievement of
all students in the school through appropriate methods.
2.6 Determine and implement policies which promote equality of access.
2.7 Determine and implement positive strategies and programmes which ensure good students
behavior and discipline and give support and clear guidance on exclusions.
2.8 Continue to maintain an effective partnership with parents and the wider community to
support and improve student’s achievement and personal development.
2.9 Promote extra-curricular activities in accordance with the educational aims of the school.

3. Leading and managing staff

3.1 Plan, allocate, support and evaluate work undertaken by groups, teams and individuals,
ensuring clear delegation of tasks and devolution of responsibilities in a manner consistent
with conditions of employment.
3.2 Implement and sustain effective systems for the management of staff performance,
incorporating performance management and target setting.
3.3 Promote and monitor the continuing professional development of staff, including the
induction of newly qualified teachers..
3.4 Participate in the arrangements made in accordance with the regulations for performance
management and threshold assessment, and to participate in the identification of areas in
which the Head teacher would benefit from further training and undergoing such training.
3.5 Ensure that a deputy Head teacher or suitable person, assumes responsibility for the
discharge of the head teacher’s function at any time when absent from school.
3.6 Continue the development of good working relationships with governors, staff, students,
parents and the community.

4. Efficient and effective deployment of staff and resources


4.1 Make arrangements for the security and effective supervision of the school
Buildings, their contents and the grounds.
4.2 Set appropriate priorities for expenditure, allocation of funds and effective
administration and control.
4.3 Manage and organize the accommodation efficiently and effectively to ensure it meets the
needs of the curriculum, community use and health and safety regulations.
4.4 Work with colleagues to deploy and develop all staff effectively in order to maintain and
improve the quality of education provided.
4.5 Manage, monitor and review the range, quality and use of all available resources in order
to improve the quality of education, improve pupils’ achievements, ensure efficiency and
secure value for money.

5. Accountability
5.1 Continue to develop an organization in which all the staff recognize that they are
accountable for the success of the school.
5.2 Ensure that parents and students are well informed about the curriculum, attainment and
progress and about the contribution they can make in supporting their child’s learning and
achieving the school’s targets for improvement.
5.3 Provide information, objective advice and support to the Governing Body to enable it to
meet its responsibilities for securing effective teaching and learning and improved
standards of achievement, and for achieving efficiency and value for money.
5.5 Carry out any such duties as may be reasonably required by the Governing Body.

The Headteacher should ensure that:


 The policies and procedures adopted by the governing body are fully implemented and
followed by all staff.
 Sufficient resources and time are allocated to enable the designated person and other staff to
discharge their responsibilities, including taking part in strategy discussions and other inter-
agency meetings, and contributing to the assessment of children.
 All staff and volunteers feel able to raise concerns about poor or unsafe practice in regard to
children, and such concerns are addressed sensitively and effectively in a timely manner in
accordance with agreed whistle blowing practices.

Master Teacher

Description of duties:
 Provide teachers on site, job-embedded professional development
 Conduct classroom observations and teacher conferences.
 Assume an active role as a member of the school leadership team
 Take an active role in building-level decision making
 Be responsible for supervising site based mentor teachers
 Analyze school-wide data
 Oversee planning, facilitation, and follow-up of collaborative group meetings
 Team-teach with colleagues, demonstrate model lessons, develop and help implement
curriculum
 Observe and provide peer assistance and coaching towards meeting teacher’s individual
goals
 Coach teachers in effective instructional strategies in a variety of content areas
 Evaluate teacher performance using observation forms.
 Participate in workshops, seminars, conferences and/or advanced coursework which
further advance knowledge of current trends in effective instructional practices

Personnel and students

Duties and responsibilities


1. Assumes leadership in the environment of instructional programs and preparation of
instructional materials in the following:
MT I: in at least 2 grade level
MT II: in at least 3 grade level
MT III: in grade level
2. Conducts instructional training program in the school, district or division
3. Provide professional assistance to teachers like coaching and mentoring
4. Develops and/or implements innovative functional teaching approaches and strategies
every school year as follows:
MT I-II- at least one
MTIII-IV - at least two
5. Serves as demonstration teacher and or consultant
MT I- at least school and district level
MT II- school, district and division level
MT III- school, district, division and regional level
MT IV- school, district, division, regional and national level
6. Conducts an action research
7. Leads analysis and utilization of test results
8. Does related work

Teacher I, II, III

Duties and responsibilities


1. Facilitates learning through functional lesson plans, daily log activities and appropriate,
adequate and updated instructional materials 9print or non-print)
2. Monitors, assesses and evaluates student’s progress
3. Undertakes activities to improve performance indicators.
4. Maintain updated students records.
5. Updates parents on student’s progress regularly
6. Supervise curricular and co-curricular projects and activities
7. Counsels and guides students
8. Conducts action research
9. Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, safety and upkeep of the classroom
10. Participates in staff development activities and utilize KSA gained from seminars, trainings
and scholarships.
11. Maintains harmonious relationship with fellow teachers and other school personnel as well as
parents and other stakeholders.
12. Supports activities of governmental and non-governmental organizations.
13. Does related work.

SENIOR BOOKEEPER
1. Prepare voucher with complete attachment and requirements per Deped orders and COA
circular
2. Checking and monitoring of timely liquidation prepared by disbursing officer
3. Keeping the work and financial plan and school’s subsidiary ledgers updated after cash
advance has been made to the schools
4. Processing and completion of liquidation reports in the absence of the disbursing officer
5. Monthly reconciliation of records and subsidiary ledgers of school mooe
6. Providing assistance to all the school heads in preparation of all work and financial plan for
MOOE, SBDF and other programs where funds are to be downloaded to the school thru the
SDO

DISBURSING OFFICER
1. Preparation and completion of liquidation of all cash advances
2. Submission of the liquidation re[port 25 days after cash advance has been made
3. Ensure not only the completeness of documents for liquidation but each expenditure
liquidated is in accordance with the work and financial plan and the purpose to which the
cash advance was made.
4. Processing and completion of liquidation reports in the absence of the bookkeeper

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
1. Provide administrative and clerical support to his/her supervisor
2. May be designated to assist either the Principal/School Head or any of the Assistant
Principal
3. May also be designated as property custodian or the canteen services of the school, as
deemed necessary; and
4. report to the Assistant Principal for Operation and Learner support and/or principal/ School
Head

Duties and Responsibilities of Master Teacher I


1. Attends professional meetings, in-service trainings and related activities for self-
growth and advancement.
2. Prepares daily logs and visual aids related to the lesson .
3. Conducts remedial episodes classes for slow learners
4. Updates parents on children’s progress and problems through dialogues,
conferences and PTA meetings
5. Assists the guidance counselor in handling students with problems
6. Gets involved in community and civic-organization activities.
7. Maintains harmonious relationships with superiors, students, local and public
officials and co-teachers.
8. Observes proper decorum
9. Conducts echo seminars for co-teachers.
10. Mentors co-teachers in content and skills difficulties
11. Helps in the proper and accurate dissemination/implementation of school
policies.
12. Assists principals in instructional monitoring of teachers.
13. Guides co-teachers in the performance of duties and responsibilities
14. Leads in the preparation and enrichment of curriculum; leads in the discussion of
professional ideas, problems, issues and concerns
15. Initiates projects and programs that will enhance the curriculum and its delivery
16. Makes the needed instructional materials available to teachers and students
17. Assists school heads in class monitoring
18. Conducts in-depth studies or action researches on instructional problems
19. Coordinates with the grade chairman in disseminating information about school
problems, awards, promotion
20. Conducts demonstration teaching, sharing effective techniques or strategies and
helps identify potential demonstration teachers
21. Monitors the maintenance of discipline between and among teachers and
learners
22. Assists in designing capacity development programs for teachers
23. Serves as trainer in school-based INSET
24. Evaluates teacher-made tests and interpret results
25. Checks regularly lesson plans of teachers in the assigned grade/subject area
26. Carries regular teaching load for the grade/subject area
27. Serves as a demonstration teacher
Duties and Responsibilities of Master Teacher II-
III
1. Provides technical assistance to teachers to improve their competencies
2. Takes active participation in the planning and implementation of training
programs in school, district and division levels
3. Initiates improvement in instructional programs
4. Leads in the preparation of instructional materials
5. Introduces innovative teaching approaches and strategies
6. Serves as demonstration teacher, facilitator or resource person at the school level
7. Performs regular class monitoring using process observation tools
8. Assists the school selection committee in the evaluation of credentials
when hiring or promoting teachers
9. Represents the school in conferences or events as delegated by the school head
10. Conducts post conferences with teachers for feedback on teaching-learning
process
11. Participates actively in school strategic planning process involving internal and
external stakeholders
12. Carries regular teaching loads for the assigned grade/subject
13. Conducts at least one action research every year
14. Takes charge of the school reading recovery program, remedial and/or
enrichment program
15. Teaches/Takes over the class if the assigned teacher is absent; works beyond
official time
16. Enriches the curriculum of his/her field of specialization
17. Serves as OIC of the school in the absence of the school head
18. Functions as head/coordinator of the department in the absence of an Head
Teacher/Department Head
19. Consolidates and interprets competency assessment results
20. Designs and validates training programs for teachers
21. Checks, improves and prepares sample lesson plans for the assigned
grade/subject area
22. Interprets test results and utilizes them for improvement of instruction
23. Helps identify potential demonstration teachers
24. Gives demonstration to new/striving teachers
