I.INTRODUCTION

In the Philippines Internet has been the most useful technology of the modern
times which helps us not only in our daily lives, but also our personal and professional lives
developments. March 29,1994 the Philippines finally had it’s first connection to the internet. The
internet helps us achieve this in several different ways. For the students and educational purposes the
internet is widely used to gather information so as to do the research or add to
the knowledge of various subjects, internet users from the philippines also spend the most time on
social media, even though many people are aware of some negative effects of internet use .just like in
slow internet connection and for the student the addiction as the main diasadvantage of internet
use,but other than that theres a some benefit of using of internet .Mobile internet emerged as the
most used methods of Filipino users to access the world wode web,The record of mobile internet
usage made the Philippines second highest globally behind Thailand. The Philippines’ fixed broadband
speed ranked 29th in Asia and 21st in Asia-Pacific in February 2019, a global index showed.

The Philippines has been steadily catching up with other countries over the past few decades when it
comes to providing the nation with access to the Internet and the rest of the world. On that note, the
Philippines has seen quite a number of milestones in this endeavor, all of which started in 21 years
ago in March 29, 1994, when users first got to establish a connection to the Internet. Such a landmark
moment has opened the doors for progress on the side of having Filipinos have access to the
information wellspring that the Internet offers over the following years ever sinceinternet speeds in
the country Philippines improved “significantly” from 7.91 Megabits per second (Mbps) in July 2016 to
19.28 Mbps in February 2019, a 143.74% improvement in two and a half years.Internet speed for
mobile broadband also improved by 94.35% from 7.44 Mbps in July 2016 to 14.46Mbps in February
2019.The improvement ranked the Philippines 33rd in Asia and 23rd in Asia-Pacific in mobile
broadband internet speed. The index noted that the country’s internet speed is faster than some of its
neighboring countries in the Asean region such as Cambodia, Brunei, Indonesia, and Myanmar. The
Philippines leads the world on average time spent daily using the internet via any device at 10 hours
and two minutes, according to the Digital 2019 report. However the growth of the Internet in the
Philippines was hindered by many obstacles including unequal distribution of Internet infrastructure
throughout the country, its cost and corruption in the government.[6] But these obstacles did not
altogether halt all the developments. More connection types were made available to more Filipinos.
Increasing bandwidth and a growing number of Filipino Internet users were proof of the continuing
development of the Internet in the country.
