India has rich culture and its traditional aspects are very remarkable. In the same way Indians
follow the cultural aspects and traditions regarding selection of food and eating habits. These latter
are very much influenced by religious beliefs of Indians. Other things like caste restrictions, weather,
and geography have also affected the eating habits of Indians.
There are two main groups of people in India who are different in their eating habits and choice of
foods. They are vegetarians and Vishnu. Vegetarians have their own believes to skip eating meat in
their lives. According to their religious believes, they think that eating meat of animals is not right for
human for they consider them pious creatures of God and worship them. Eating habits of India vary
according to different regions and provinces of India. Most of the Indians eat almost all food items
like fruits, vegetables, fish, dairy products and grain foods.
Sweets and desserts are always part of their food and they celebrate their moments of happiness
with sweets. With changes and new outcomes in food industry, modern families of India tend to eat
junk food offered by foreign food restaurants and franchisers. Tea is also drunk as a beverage in
whole India by people of all ages. All events and festivals of India are celebrated with cooking delicious
and traditional dishes.
