CASE

1
An Indonesian oil and gas company purposes to expand its business overseas. V-field (Norway) is one
of its target. You are responsible for making a comprehensive field development plan (refer to PTK-
POD). The POD includes a minimum but not limited to:
1. Understanding of reservoir characterization, regional geology and uncertainties in the field;
2. Processing and analyzing appropriate data with scientific and engineering principles;
3. Selection of optimum development scenarios (number and location of wells, production and
transportation facility schemes, economics);
4. Selection of contract scheme (PSC Cost Recovery or Gross Split).

Note:
Using external data that can support the analysis are allowed by mentioning the reasons and justifications.

FIELD DESCRIPTION

3
V is a field in the central part of the North Sea. The water depth is 80 meters. V-field was
discovered in 1993. V-field produced oil from sandstone of Middle Jurassic age in the
Hugin Formation. The reservoir is at a depth of 2,700-3,100 meters. The western part of
the structure is heavily faulted and communication across the faults is uncertain.

Top Hugin Fm. In this well was encountered at 3015.6 m TVDRT and bottom at 3126.3 m
TVDRT. The test was planned and performed with 2 separately perforated zones 2A and
2B. 2A perforated and produced first, then 2A + 2B commingled.
1. Perforated interval Zone 2A; 3885.5 – 3888.5 m MDRT (3095.6-3098.3 m TVDRT)
2. Perforated Interval Zone 2B; 3826-3865 m MDRT (3041.9-3077.1 m TVDRT)

There was one exploration well that has been drilled in V-field. The field was developed
with a jack-up processing and drilling facility. Production on stream is planned in 2021.
The contract is expired at June 2041.
The oil was exported by tankers and the rich gas was transported to a facility for further
export.
