1 Introduction
This section of the operating manual explains how to install the SIMS Software provided with the
purchase of a Floormap system, designed and manufactured by Silverwing (UK) Ltd. There are two
versions of the reporting software that exist, a Full-Version is licenced to the inspection organisation
who purchased the Floormap system, and a Read-Only version for use by the end client / report
viewer.

2 SIMS Software Licence Terms

The SIMS full-version of software is activated on a laptop / desktop computer using an activation key
supplied by Silverwing (UK) Ltd. The maximum number of activation keys supplied by Silverwing
(UK) Ltd is three per Floormap system. Additional activation keys are available and can be
purchased by contacting Silverwing (UK) Ltd. The SIMS read-only version of software does not
require an activation key and can be freely issued by the licensed owner’s organisation to their
inspection clients at the licensed owner’s discretion.

3 Minimum System requirements

The following specifications are the minimum operating requirements for the SIMS Software.

Microsoft Windows Vista /7/8/8.1 32bit or 64bit operating system

 Microsoft® Windows® 7 Ultimate, Professional, or Home Premium or Microsoft® Windows®
Vista Professional or Home
 2 GHz Intel or AMD processor, 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) capable CPU.
 NVidia GeForce with minimum 256 MB RAM or ATI Radeon with minimum 256 MB RAM
 1024 x 768 display resolution (1440 x 900 or higher recommended)
 4GB RAM (6GB recommended for 64-bit),
 Microsoft .NET framework (supplied),
 Microsoft DirectX9 (supplied),
 Microsoft XNA framework (supplied),
 100MB Hard disk space for installation, recommended 500GB for storage of tank data.
 Windows compatible mouse & keyboard
 USB support for data transfer using the supplied high speed USB Flash Drive.

4 Installation of the Reporting Software

4.1 Software Prerequisites
For the SIMS Software to function correctly it requires additional software applications:
 Microsoft Windows Installer 4.5
 Microsoft .NET Framework Version 4.0
 XNA Framework Version 4.0
Copies of relevant versions of the pre-requisite are included on the installation CD and installed as
required during the installation process.

4.2 Starting the Software Installation Interface

To install the software from the Installation CD, insert the CD into the computer CD drive. A CD
autorun window should appear (Figure.1). Click Run SIMS.exe to load the installation interface screen
(Figure.2).

If the CD does not Autorun, open My Computer and then double click the CD drive to view the
contents. Double click on the SIMS.exe icon to load the installation interface screen.

4.3 Installing the SIMS and Prerequisite Software

To begin installation of the SIMS software click on the Install SIMS Reporting Software button
(Figure 2). The installation package automatically prompts to install required pre-requisite software.
Accepting these installs allows required pre-requisite software to be installed. Once the software has
been installed, the SIMS installation wizard appears.

Step 1: Click Next to proceed with the installer.

Step 3: Click Next to start the installation.

Step 4: Click Close. You have now successfully installed the SIMS software.

4.4 Running the SIMS Software in admin mode

Once installed the software generates a desktop shortcut icon which can be used to begin the SIMS
Software. Before the software can be started it must be manually set to run as an administrator mode
To manually set administrator mode:
1. Right click on the SIMS icon then select Properties.
2. Navigate to the Compatibility Tab of the properties window.
3. Tick Run this program as an administrator

4. Click Apply and Ok.

IMPORTANT!
If the software is not set to run in administration mode then the
software cannot be activated and the software may fail to load.

4.5 Loading the SIMS Software

To load the SIMS Software, either double click on the desktop icon or navigate through the windows
start menu:
Start → All Programs → Silverwing (UK) Ltd → SIMS → SIMS

5 Reporting Software Activation (Full-Version only)

When the Full-Version of the SIMS software is loaded for the first time the Floormap Product
Activation window appears. The software requires activation prior to use and must be activated using
an activation key obtained from Silverwing (UK) Ltd. This is to prevent user from installing the Full-
Version of software on more than three separate computers as per the software license conditions.

5.1 Activation Process

To activate the SIMS software, all fields in the Floormap Product Activation window (Figure 8) must
be entered.

To complete:
1. Enter a user name in the User field.
2. Enter a Company name in the Company field.
3. Select the required Floormap Version from the dropdown box.
4. Enter the serial number for the Floormap into the Floormap Serial Number.
5. Once the above fields have been filled, click the Generate Serial button. This will generate a serial
number which is unique to the computer. If an error message appears please check that the
software is set to run in admin mode.
6. Click on the Copy information (paste in email) button.
This copies the User, Company, Floormap Version, Floormap Serial Number, Reporting Software
version number and the unique serial number from the Floormap Product Activation window as
text. This can be pasted into an email, Microsoft Word document, or equivalent.

7. Contact Silverwing (UK) Ltd with the information obtained by clicking Copy information (paste in
email) button (exactly as it was originally typed):
 User
 Company
 Floormap Version
 Floormap Serial Number
 Reporting Software Number
 Version Number
 Serial
8. An activation key is provided by Silverwing (UK) Ltd from the provided information (please allow
up to 24 hours from the time of the activation request).
9. Ensure that the correct information is shown in the User / Company / Floormap Serial Number /
serial number fields then enter the Activation key into the Enter Provided Activation key here field.
10. Click Verify to complete the activation process.

If successful, a Verification Successful message will be shown, if not successful, a Verification NOT
Successful message will be shown. When successful, the Verify button will also change into
Continue; click this to close the activation screen.

A permanent record of the User / Company / Floormap Version / Floormap Serial Number /
Reporting Software Number / Version Number / Serial / Activation Key must be kept. This
information will be required if the software is reinstalled or updated in future.
