Spirituality vs religion is an ancient debate. For some, religion is a set of dogmas and for a few it's a way
of life. Some believe spirituality to be a bogus conundrum, while some affirm it to be the purpose of life.
Irrespective of who has to say what or whether it is, spirituality vs religion, they both lead the followers on a
path to choose the right and do the right thing. The distinction between the two is a fine line of
perspective. One needs to have a keen eye for exploration to see what is the difference between
psychology of religion and spirituality. Let's take a walk through the two, to see what we understand.

What is Religion?
Religion is a framework to a way of living life. It is a set of rules that guides its follower and owns its
followers. Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Judaism,Buddhism and Jainism are some of the well-known
religions of the world. Each of these religions indulge in certain practices of worship, to reach God.
Whether it's idol worship or worshiping nature or worshiping scriptures, each of these religion is guideline
for worshiping. They are governed by beliefs designed by sages and saints who practiced the same.
These religious faith and beliefs have been formed, to some extent, by cultural conditioning. World
religions have been passed on to us over generations together. They take the form of traditions and
customs, which decide the way we live our lives. In totality, religion is what sets our lives in a direction,
and in a large way grooms us.

What is Spirituality?
Spirituality is not bound by any rules. It does not follow any religion and neither does it adhere to any set
of principles. Spirituality is the art and science of self-realization. It's a practice of knowing each part of
your body. Being spiritual means awakening the very spirit of being who you are. It's means to recognize
what you are made of. It can seem complex in the beginning. However, all of us are spiritual beings, it is
just a matter of realizing it. Spirituality is a walk towards the ultimate goal of your life. In essence, it's your
journey to find yourself. There are many schools of thought that believe in uniting with the pure mental
and physical being by meditating. Meditation is focusing on breathing, which is the very reason for

Spirituality vs Religion
Both spirituality and religion aim to take an individual towards the ultimate goal of life. A religion does so
by spoon feeding the individual. Religion gives the person set guidelines and asks him/her to follow.
Often, religious beliefs instill fear of God in you and make you do things without questioning them.
Spirituality is worship of self as it believes God resides in you and no where outside. The reasons to do
so, often remain unexplained. On the other hand, spirituality is an individual experience of the
encompassing effect. A spiritual person finds his own way, travels it alone and reaches there in a state of
euphoria. Following a religion is doing a duty, whereas being spiritual is being who you are.

Spirituality vs religion will no longer be a debate for you, if you can see beyond it. Beyond it lies the task
of finding your purpose of life, fulfilling it and living it wholeheartedly. Today, I can finally find the words to
answer my mother, who thinks I am an atheist. Atheism does not mean, not believing in God. God is a
supreme power, the ultimate goal, the eventual destination or a universal belief. An atheist may not
believe in an idol, but he sure does believe. The fact that he/she believes, is good enough to set them on
the path, life has in store for them. So, spirituality vs religion, does not matter as long as you are ready to
explore this life, the only one that you have.

Success Secrets of the Simple Minded

Whether you perceive yourself to be a genius or you think that you have the IQ of a box of rocks, you have inside of
you at this very moment the ability to have a life of incredible success and happiness – IF you know the Secrets to
Whether we like to admit it or not, most of us have a common misconception that people who are truly
successful in life have some sort of gift or skill, or that they were given some kind of incredible break or
opportunity during their life that allowed them to achieve their incredible success.

The simple truth of the matter is that all people – no matter who they are, where they are from, or what
their history is – have the ability to achieve massive success in life, and to maintain that level of success
for as long as they desire to have it.

However, given the false misconception that the rich and famous and the "beautiful" people in the world
have some "trick" to their success keeps the everyday person from even trying to achieve lofty levels of
health, prosperity, and happiness.

The secret to true and lasting success is that we simply need to get out of our own way and permanently
bury the self-limiting beliefs that have been keeping us from our dreams for all of these years!

Success Secret #1

Every single person who ever achieved or maintained success in this world first had a clear picture in
their mind of what that success looked like. How much success do you think you will have if your
statement of action looks like any of these?
I am going to be the best BLANK in the history of mankind!
My body is going to BLANK like no one else’s ever has!
I am going to build the most powerful company ever, and we are going to sell BLANK.
My ideal husband/wife is going to make me so happy because he/she will BLANK.

Do you see the point here? Even having an idea of what area of your life that you want to achieve
success in – health, wealth, relationships, career, etc. – is simply not enough to get the gears turning in
your life that will make it happen.

You have to know exactly what you want to do in your MIND before it can ever manifest and become a
part of your actual existence. Do you think that the people who build skyscrapers say "Let’s just throw a
bunch of concrete and steel together and see how high we can make it"?

No, they envision a beautiful tower of architectural superiority in their mind, and then they start working
out a plan of how to make it happen. Although your goals may not be as far-reaching as a 100-story
building downtown, the process begins in exactly the same place – in your mind.

Success Secret #2

You must BELIEVE that you can accomplish your goal! You would think that something as simple as that
would go without saying, but the sad truth of the matter is that most people are brought up to believe that
they are limited by what is realistically possible.

In fact, the more time you spend learning about the state of affairs in the world at large, as well as in your
own neighborhood, the more you will become conditioned to believe that you can only accomplish certain
things because "that’s just the way it is".

Nothing could be further from the truth! As a wonderful and glorious human being, the only true skill that
you have to have to succeed is a burning desire to accomplish whatever it is that you want to accomplish!

History is replete with examples of wildly successful people who attained their success not via expensive
college educations or unlimited financial resources, but rather because they simply refused to give up
until they had found or created a way to achieve their dreams.

Success Secret #3

No one who ever achieved any lasting success ever did so by sitting at home studying the long lost
secrets of other successful people.

It doesn’t matter if you are talking about following the path of wealthy business men and women, tracking
the health practices of people with picture-perfect bodies, or just cracking the code of someone who has
mastered gloriously fulfilling relationships. Your ability to memorize their master plans will do you
absolutely no good whatsoever if you do not get up and take action on what you have learned.

Does that mean that you need to plan to dedicate 18-hour work days to building the next business
empire, spend countless hours at the gym, or practice every relationship-saving technique that you read
about? Of course not.

However, if you want to achieve success in any endeavor in your life, you will have to put a powerful plan
of action in place in order to make it happen, and stick to that plan over the long-term, rather than just the

The Secrets to Success of the Simple Minded are 3 very ordinary concepts that every single person ever
born has the ability to bring to bear:

Know what you Want - Believe that you can have It – Take consistent action to attain It
Everything else on the path to goal attainment and success are merely logistical details.

Some say that it is that part of the mind that lies dormant as we go about doing our daily work. Others say
that it is the counterpart of our conscious mind that is active while we are sleeping. Those who believe in
subconscious mind say that it gives us a peek into our desires and ambitions that we secretly hold, some
of which eludes even our consciousness. Although a foolproof definition of the subconscious mind hasn't
yet been achieved, its power has been acknowledged by mankind for long. No empirical proof has been
found, but the subconscious mind has found mention centuries ago in various cultures of the world and
meditation is just one of the techniques that our ancestors used as an exercise for subconscious mind

Although development in the field of science and technology had diverted human attention more towards
empirical attributes of the universe, subconscious mind power and control has seen renewed interest in
recent decades. Here are a few subconscious mind exercises and techniques that help us to connect to
the voice of the subconscious. More on your subconscious mind and you.

Subconscious Mind Exercises and Techniques

Meditation: It is believed that meditation is a mode through which we communicate with our subconscious
mind. While we meditate, we aim to relieve our mind of all distractions. We try to calm our conscious mind
by bringing all our thoughts together to some particular object. As we do this we attune ourselves to the
voice of our subconscious mind that so often gets stifled by our conscious mind. For doing this, sit in a
place where there would be minimum distraction and concentrate on some particular object in your mind.
Initially start with just 10 minutes of meditation. Then increase it with practice. You could also practice
meditation while lying in bed, just before going off to sleep.

Self Hypnosis: Self hypnosis is a mode through which the subconscious mind communicates with our
conscious mind. During hypnotism, our mind becomes calm and we are able to concentrate better on what
our subconscious mind has to say. As we listen to our subconscious mind during hypnosis, our conscious
mind becomes aware of what its quiet counterpart has to say and once we wake up, we follow what the
conscious mind learned about our real desires from the subconscious mind during hypnosis. More on self
hypnosis techniques.

Visualization: This is believed to be most effective subconscious mind control exercise. This exercise
involves seeing oneself in a role that one aspires to become. This technique is commonly used by
sportspersons to improve their skills and is done just before going to the field to play their sport. Scientific
research has shown that brain waves while visualization and while an individual actually performs the act,
are the same. This means that our brain cannot differentiate between whether we are imagining or doing
it for real, it reacts with equal fervor in either case.

Positive Self Affirmation: Say these things to yourself:

• I AM the best.
• I CAN do that.
• I WILL succeed.
• I WILL be happy.

These are positive self affirmations that you could use to train your subconscious mind to believe that you
can achieve success. Self affirmations done in this way is a way of communicating and imprinting in the
subconscious mind that you will succeed in whatever endeavor you chose to indulge in.

Use Vision Actively: Other than just repeating the self affirmations verbally, one can also write them
down on a sheet of paper and stick or hang them at such a place that the words can be seen by an
individual frequently throughout the day. In place of these sayings, one can also use posters or pictures
that denote some form of achievement or success. You could also put the picture of your ideal who
inspires you. These are options to train your subconscious mind to boost your confidence.

Intuition: We all have felt a feeble voice inside our heads that keeps nagging at us not to indulge in a
particular act. We often neglect it and through the consequence of our act, we later realize that we should
have listened to that voice! This is another aspect that science has not been able to explain. Nevertheless
we call it intuition, that always seems to know what is right for us. Many believe that this is the voice of our
subconscious mind communicating with us. The more that we stifle it, the more feeble it becomes. To
strengthen this voice, listen to it and try to think why is that voice speaking to you like that.

Understand Your Dreams: If intuition is the auditory means of the subconscious mind communicating
with you, then dreams are its visual counterpart. To understand what your subconscious mind is trying to
tell you, write down your dream every time you see one. Over time, you may be able find a pattern in your
dreams that may have some specific meaning. More information on dream interpretations.

Stream of Consciousness Writing: Sit with pen and a piece of paper. Ensure that your mind is in a calm
state. Write down whatever comes to your mind. Do not try to influence your thoughts. Initially the
thoughts would be that of the conscious mind. However, after sometime the conscious thoughts would be
replaced by those of the subconscious mind.

The subconscious mind exercises and techniques mentioned above are practiced by many and they are
known to have brought result. However, in order to have subconscious mind control through these
techniques, one needs to have patience. It's not easy to quieten the conscious mind and be able to hear
the voice of the subconscious mind. It is only through a lot of practice that one may be able to see any

you tend to follow them. So, if your best friend tells to go out for a movie when you are supposed to sit
down to study for the test next day, you follow your best friend to the movie theater without much delay. If
someone likes you he may follow all your wimps and fancies just to please you. Thus, you will notice the

how can a story be used to control a person? You may have observed that people get engrossed when
reading an interesting story or watching movies and try to enact the character that created the biggest
impact in their mind. So weave some short anecdotes in your conversations everyday, that will help you
control the mind of the other person. You can even use negative sentences to make a person do
something you want to. This is just like reverse psychology. Tell the person that he doesn't need to do the

will just be more careful. You can learn more on the art of self hypnosis

These were just a few hypnosis mind control techniques that you may try. Hypnotism is an art that one

how to have the person come out of it, without any ill consequences. Many hypnotics use a clap or click
or a word to make a person undergo a trance or come out of deep sleep. You are basically playing with
the subconscious mind and making it more alert than the conscious mind. You never know what the
person has stored in his subconscious mind that may prove to be harmful for both you and the person
under hypnosis. So be very careful before trying out hypnosis mind control techniques.

You can always use the simple hypnosis mind control techniques in your everyday life and get a good
bargain form the salesman or make your husband come home early everyday. All the best and make sure
you don't get hypnotized by the attractive person opposite to you in the bar.
