This monographic volume is published on the occasion of the first exhibition in Japan devoted to
the Paris-based deValence studio. Besides being a visual aide, it also serves as a theoretical
extension of the exhibition, relating the cultural and historical context that deValence has been
working in since its establishment in 2001. An essay by design historian Tony Come, along with
an interview by art critic and publisher Kiyonori Muroga with Alexandre Dimos and Ghislain
Triboulet, shed light on the studio's creations, analysing the design and production processes
implemented in recent years while also highlighting the inspirations and influences that France
and Japan both share.

The third issue of 'Back Office' is devoted to various experiences of reading on screens. Over the
course of the last decades, this change has introduced deep shifts, the effects of which are still
being assessed. The proliferation of screens and the dawn of the internet paved the way for
forms of expression that fall under the broad category of the "graphosphere", presumably still
dominated by the norms and figures of linear writing and paper. Could the task of the designer be
to accompany, as smoothly as possible, this transition from one era of technology to the next? Or
could it be, on the contrary, to postpone the passage from paper to screen?

Toy designer and illustrator Luca Boscardin is passionate about spaceships, fantastic creatures,
imaginary characters, and super-fast machines, but in this book he takes a step back to give a
fresh view on a mundane activity to which everyone can relate: standing in line. He playfully
depicts the many moments in life when we find ourselves queueing for different reasons. Whether
we are standing among those who are impatient, those who are late, those who try to cut in, or
those who try to make conversation, we can all easily recognise ourselves in this series of ironic
drawings of shared moments, because, whether we like it or not, sooner or later, it will be our turn
to stand in line.

'Good and Plenty' reflected and embodied the technology of a brief period between the late 1980s
and early '90s. This book looks at seven issues of the fanzine through the lens of graphic design
and typography. Contributions from graphic designers, educators, and hardcore punk enthusiasts
trace the history of zines and photoduplication, while also addressing how zine-making created
community and alternative social space in a pre-Internet era. A text by Walter Schreifels,
musician and member of several of the bands from that period, places 'Good and Plenty' in
historical context and highlights specific moments in the cultural and sonic landscape. With full
reproductions of all seven issues.

Every year, 30 million acres of cropland, 4.2 trillion gallons of water, and nearly two billion pounds
of fertilizer are used to grow food that's never eaten, and only for aesthetic reasons. We need to
learn to embrace "ugly food": fruits and vegetables with blemishes and imperfect shapes that are
nonetheless perfectly delicious, nutritious, and - sometimes - of superior quality and flavour. In
tribute to these ugly foods, this colouring book features 14 beautifully shaped funny vegetables
that are just waiting for you to cheer them up. Use the eye stickers and your coloured pencils to
make them all smile!

"Travel sculptures started off as small sculptures (some even pocket sized) to carry with you, or
so you could take part of your own culture to an anonymous hotel room. Later they were turned
into "travel sculptures" five or six metres tall and made of steel. One of these was seen for a few
months in Cesenatico, another one in Naples along the seafront. Others are sleeping among
huge trees in the Alto Adige region." - Bruno Munari, A collective exhibition. This is how Bruno
Munari described his "travel sculptures", which inspired American illustrator and designer David
A. Carter for his pop-up book 'Le sculture da viaggio di Munari'.

Berlin is considered as one of the most desirable cities for young creatives. But the average wage
in Berlin is significantly lower than any other city in Germany, and the city has long suffered from
deficit spending. Reasonable living costs and rents actually pushed Berlin to become a
powerhouse of creativity, and yet a recent surge in rent prices threatens to fundamentally change
the city's cultural ecology. Fourteen different studios from all over the city, from iconic studios to
lesser-known practices, share stories about Berlin from their own perspectives, about what has
and has not changed, and about their expectations and worries, preconceptions and realities.
