A Funny Incident

Funny and humorous incidents keep on happening in our life. They just happen unexpectedly
as a pleasant surprise which we cherish for our entire life as a fond memory. One such funny
incident happened during my school days. This incident happened when I was in 12th
standard. Mine was an English medium school which used start at 7:30 in the morning. All the
students used to come just 5 minutes before time but me and friends used to come 30
minutes earlier i.e., around 7 in the morning. We were a group of 6 friends and every day we
used to come 30 minutes early and play pen fight on the teacher’s desk. This was a daily
routine for us; come 30 minutes early and play the game till the teacher comes and stop us
from playing. On one such Tuesday morning, as usual me and my friends came early and
started playing, we were so much indulged in playing that we forget that the principal was
standing right outside the class and watching us play. It was around 7:40 that we realized
something was wrong as the teacher hasn’t arrived yet and the entire class was silent which
usually doesn’t happen until the teacher arrives. We turned in unison and saw that our
principal was standing at the gate and was looking towards us angrily. She scolded us for
playing in the class and as result we were sent to the trustee’s office who will decide the
magnitude of our punishment. Our trustee was an old man in his sixties who didn’t know
anything about the game. He angrily asked what were we doing in the class. At this point we
were all standing heads down in complete silence. When the trustee again asked us, this time
one of my friend started to explain the game to him. He started explaining him that in order
to play this game you need a table and 6 players. Everybody should have the same kind of
pen. Then we divide the players in 2 teams of 3 each. Then you place your pen on the table
and aim at the opponent team player’s pen and try to drop their pen out of the table without
getting your own dropped. The trustee was listening very carefully and as soon as my friend
finished explaining the game, he shouted on him and started scolding him that this what you
come to do in the class. Then he asked us why we were playing the game in the class. This
time the same friend replied that madam wasn’t present in the class that is why we were
playing. This made the trustee furious and he again shouted at him saying that if the madam
is not present in the class will you dance in the class removing your shirt. While he was being
scolded by the trustee, we all were silently laughing keeping our heads down. We all were
given a warning to not to repeat such thing again or the next time our parents will be called.
That didn’t stop us from playing the game, we just started playing that during our recess
break.
