Women empowerment and Poverty
We are living in 21st century and world is in a phase of economic and industrial boost.
Neighboring countries of Pakistan have rapidly growing GDP, per capita income, reduced
inflation, reduced poverty. But Pakistan has29 percent, which means 58 million people living
below poverty line. The main reason for such a huge number of people living below poverty line
is that Pakistan still has custom that just one family member or male member will earn for the
family. Father, alone will earn for his kids, will sponsor education of his children, will provide
money for their marriages, shelter, clothing and ration. Alone person can’t do this. Why don’t
we let our women to help us by earning money from reasonable and white collar jobs? This is
an echoing question in context of ongoing situation.The way, people below poverty line are
spending their lives, can’t be imagined by living in a well-furnished house, sitting in AC and
travelling in a luxury car. Pakistani people must promote working of divorced ladies, widows
because these women need earnings more than any one. In addition to this we must promote
working of married women to help their husbands in earning money for family because women
are also a fundamental part of our society.

Bangladesh is 2nd largest exporter of Garments in World and 60 percent of work force
in garment industry is women.That’s a reason behind better living standard of people of
Bangladesh, rapidly growing GDP. Garment industry in Pakistan will be a suitable market in this
regard. This industry can handle a large number of women and can provide them a better living
standard. Living in Lahore, 2nd largest City of Pakistan, we encountered a lot of problems in
people’s lives. There are families having no male member for earning, they just can’t get
outside of their houses because of society, because of relatives, because of so called customs.
But these all factors can’t help the families in their uplift, education of their children, providing
ration to them. So, we claiming on doorstep of modernization, why we don’t let our women to
earn, to better feed their kids. There are examples in Pakistan, in this morally crippled society,
where mothers murdered their children because they can’t see them dying due to hunger.
There are cases of collective suicides just because they are fed up of poverty. We being part of
this society are a part of this crime.

Government must devise policies for creation of job opportunities for women that are
not against teachings of Islam and our society must grow up by broadening their views. This
society’s norms are also responsible for ever growing poverty. Pakistan is 148thamong
149countries in index of gender equality published by world economic forum.Kar e kmal(a non-
profit welfare organization)team members visited a lot of houses in Lahore where people don’t
have ration for their children, no schools for their kids. Such families don’t have male members
to earn, although women of these houses work for betterment of their kids, but due to lack of
proper channelthey are not able to feed their children. Kar e kmalis providing services toat
 least 25 families with a budget of 2.5 lacs. We provide not only ration but also fee of children in
some cases if we have a medical case then medicine providing is also on our list. We are out
there to help such needy families whose women are not able to run their houses. This is
possible with you guys standing along us and generously donating for the cause. Kar e Kmalhas
a distinction that it totally conceals the identity of needy people keeping in view their self
respect. So for procurement of our Purpose we need of support of you people.
