7. TECHNICAL REPORT
A: Attended the vessel for DC C20 DPU Communication error (DPSC & RDO 16) issue. Status- Ok
Checked the status of VL400 (ROS 1 and ROS 2) computers when came on board, checked CIS and Gis.
Found DPU 1(1/5) DPSC and DPU 3(1/21) Rdo16 is not operational on CIS.
During checking the DPU physically found two modules (DPU 1(1/5) DPSC and DPU 3(1/21) Rdo16) showing watchdog alarm and
showing red indication.
Tried to reset the power on both DPU but failed to back to operational.
Discussed with C/E and decided to replace both pre-programmed DPU with boot and DPU software from Singapore office.
After replacement connected power and CAN cables to check the status of DPU in CIS, and after replacement both DPU back to
operational status on CIS and no alarms physically on DPU.
Later connected all the field cables and all the I/O are getting values and communicational.
Both alarm printers are working and tested.
After checked and compared both ROS 1 and ROS2 and synchronised the data.
Alarm test was tested on both ROS and alarm was synchronised.
Ship crew reported UPS 1 and UPS 2 has abnormal alarm when came on board.
Checked the input voltage on both UPS and found normal.
Checked the DPU 10 (RDi 32 channel 17 and 18 for ups 1 and 2 status channel. DPU and channels are working as normal.
Physically on the UPS, its showing battery replacement and overload alarm.
It is recommended to replace the UPS as its showing alarms.
Note- In order to replace the UPS / battery, VL400 system need to shutdown and replace the battery. VL400 is a model, which is no
longer available in market (obsolete). In case of any system failure on VL400, the spare parts are not available for supply. So its
recommend to upgrade the computer systems for ROS1 and ROS 2 to PCM4 version. Only top system upgrade is enough for this
configuration (PCM4 CPU and UPS for each system). All the working DPU on board can be used for new PCM4 upgrade.
