HINTS AND SOLUTIONS
1. (D) : Perimeter of the given figure = SR + RQ + 5. (D) : Since, the numbers are formed by the digits
QP + PO + OZ + ZY + XY + XW + WV + VU + 7, 2, 3, 8 and 4.
UT + TS \ The greatest number = 87432
Here, TU = 13 cm and the smallest number = 23478
⇒ SR + QP + OZ = 13 Place value of ten's digit of greatest number
⇒ 4 + 2 + OZ = 13 = 3 × 10 = 30
⇒ OZ = 7 cm Face value of one's digit of smallest number = 8
Also, ST = 9 cm \ Required difference = 30 – 8 = 22
⇒ ZY + XW + VU = 9 6. (B) : Quantity of water, the mug can hold
= 4 litres 300 ml = (4000 + 300)ml = 4300 ml
⇒ ZY + 2 + 6 = 9
Quantity of water, the cup can hold = 950 ml
⇒ ZY = 1 cm
Therefore, the mug can hold (4300 – 950) ml
\ Perimeter = 4 + 3 + 2 + 3 + 7 + 1 + 3 + 2
+ 3 + 6 + 13 + 9 = 56 cm = 3350 ml or 3 litres 350 ml more water than the
cup.
2. (D) :
7. (B) : 100 times of 1 cm = 100 × 1 cm = 100 cm
Now, (350 – 100)cm = 250 cm
Hence, 100 times of 1 cm is 250 cm less than
350 cm.
8. (D) : Third multiple of 8 = 3 × 8 = 24
line of symmetry Third multiple of 2 = 3 × 2 = 6
3. (C) : Anisha's savings = ` 300 5 more than third multiple of 2 = 6 + 5 = 11
Anjali's savings = ` 200
\ Required product = 24 × 11 = 264
Aditi's savings = ` 250
9. (D) : Since, the numbers are in order from greatest
Anshul's savings = ` 400
to least. Therefore, the number in the place of
\ Aditi and Anjali together saved = ` (250 + 200)
question mark will be greater than 3599 and less
= ` 450
than 7652. So, the number will be 7625.
Anisha and Anshul together saved
10. (D) : The factors of 12 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 12.
= ` (300 + 400) = ` 700
Difference = ` (700 – 450) = ` 250 And 18828 ÷ 1 = 18828, 18828 ÷ 2 = 9414,
1 5 6 2 4 18 18828 ÷ 3 = 6276, 18828 ÷ 4 = 4707,
4. (A) : + + + + =
5 5 5 5 5 5
Also, given 18828 ÷ 6 = 3138, 18828 ÷ 12 = 1569

1 5 6 2 4 3 3 6 6 \ We get 18828 is divisible by all the factors of 12.

+ + + + = + + + ?+
5 5 5 5 5 5 5 5 5
11. (B) : We have 7 rows of boxes and each row has
18 18
⇒ = +? 4 boxes in the figure.
5 5
⇒ ? = 0 \ Number of boxes = 7 × 4 = 28

12. (C) : The largest 4-digit number = 9999 20. (C) : Cost of 1000 g (= 1 kg) of oranges
The smallest 5-digit number = 10000 = ` 100
Sum of the number = 9999 + 10000 = 19999 \ Cost of 3 kg of oranges = ` (3 × 100)
= ` 300
Now, ten's digit of 19999 = 9
Cost of 500 g of apples = ` 70
and thousand's digit of 19999 = 9
\ Cost of 1000 g (= 1 kg) of apples
\ Required sum = 9 + 9 = 18
= ` (2 × 70) = ` 140
13. (D) : Perimeter of the figure
So, cost of 2 kg of apples = ` (2 × 140) = ` 280
= AB + BC + CD + DE + A B C D

EF + FG + GH + HI + IJ R E F G Thus, cost of 2 kg of apples and 3 kg of oranges

26. (C) : Independence day is on 15th August. 32. (D) : (A) Length of route = 5 + 3 + 4 = 12 km
One week after 15th August = 22nd August (B) Length of route = 6 + 7 = 13 km
\ One week and 4 days after 15th August (C) Length of route = 3 + 4 + 7 = 14 km
= 26th August. (D) Length of route = 3 + 4 + 2 = 9 km
Therefore, route in option (D) is the best route.
So, Roshni's competition will be on Friday.
27. (A) : The number in the abacus is read as six 33. (C) : (a)  = 15 cm of rain.

So, in 2011, the city received 120 cm of rain.
28. (C) : 2 +2 = 10 kg (b) Rain received in 2008 = 5 = 5 × 15
= 75 cm
\ + = 5 kg Rain received in 2009 = 2 = 2 × 15 = 30 cm

31. (C) : The quotient, after dividing 35. (B) : There were 4 women, 2 kids, 6 cats and 12
4 2304 576
2304 by 4 is 576. 20 kittens.
Now, 6 × 96 = 576 30 \ Number of eyes = 2× 4 + 2 × 2 + 2 × 6 + 2 × 12
