Will Any Other
Gear Widths
Work?
Any gear width providing the largest
required flow within the speed
range can be used as a starting
point to create a flow divider.

ability to match the smaller flow
requirements with other gear widths
at the chosen speed.

Applying as a Pressure Intensifier
Points to Consider

• All Input Energy is Converted Into

Usable Output Energy
• Subcircuit Pressure Can be Intensified
Above Pump Input Pressure
CAUTION:
Because of the Flow Divider’s

Capacity to Intensify Pressure,

the Pump and all Subcircuit

Outputs Must Have

Relief Valve

Protection
!!
Sample Application

• A 50 gpm Pump Supply

• Flow Divider (FD50B BYAD20-1 GAD20BY)
• Three Relief Valves, all Set at 2500 psi
• Flow Divider Output Pressure Requirements
of 500 psi and 2200 psi Respectively

What is the Pressure of the Input Pump Flow?

TGW x TIP = (GW1 x OP1) + (GW2 x OP2)...
• TGW = Total Gear Width
• TIP = Theoretical Input Pressure
• GW1 = Gear Width of the 1st Section
• OP1 = Operating Pressure of the 1st Section
• GW2 = Gear Width of the 2nd Section
• OP2 = Operating Pressure of the 2nd Section
TGW = GW1 + GW2 + ...

Actual Input Pressure

The Following Must be Added to “TIP” in Order to

Obtain Actual Input Pressure:
FD30/31/330 = 200 psi
FD50/51/350 = 300 psi
FD75/76/365 = 400 psi
Answer

TIP + 300 psi = Actual Input

Pressure
1350 psi + 300 psi = 1650 psi
300 Series Flow Dividers

• Must Have a 3/8” O. D. Tube Port in One Port

End Cover to Drain Internal Leakage From
the Bushing Cavity
• Four Gear Sections or Larger Units Require a
Second Drain Line Placed in the Other Port
End Cover or Larger Port Machining in the
Original Drain Port
