Description:

The project consists of an existing operational industrial compound extending over a plot around
50’000m² with multiple structures, for the purpose of edible oil extraction along with the production of
dried soybean based animal feed.

Large silos, warehouse, tanks are also integrated within the compound for the storage of raw material
and finished goods.

The compound consists of various types of occupancies/structures as listed below:

Purpose of the Study:

The purpose of the study is to:

 Assess the various hazards and risks in the manufacturing handling and storing process.
 Ensure the protection of personnel, various goods and equipment on the premises.
 Propose the adequate fire protection measures.
 Elaborate the necessary fire detection systems.
 Assess the existing Electrical Earthing systems for static electricity protection.

Scope of Work:

1. Pre‐study phase:

 Site inspections estimated at 10 visits.

 Coordination with plant operator, and project manager.
 Coordination with technical control bureau.
 Hazard assessments.
 Defining the technical challenges.

2. Concept phase:

 Applicable NFPA codes and standards.

 Design report.
 Applicable fire protection means and detection.
 Listing of the pros. and cons of each fire protection system.
 Preliminary execution cost estimation.
 Technical/Financial presentation for client review.
 Client feedback and Updated design report.

3. Development phase:

 Fire protection layouts.

 Fire detection layout.
 Power requirements and layouts, panelboards and feeders for fire protection equipment.
 Electrical earthing and bonding review of existing installations.
 Bill of quantities.
 Technical specifications.

4. Contract awarding phase:

 Assistance in answering tenderer’s technical queries.

 Support and attendance in tender clarifications meetings.
 Financial and technical review of bidders offers.

5. Execution Phase:

 Shop drawings review and approval.

 Material submittal review and approval.
 Regular site inspections.

 Site meetings attendance.

 Eventual variation order claims review and approval.

6. Handing over phase:

 Follow up on the testing and commissioning phase.

 Review and approval of testing/commissioning results.
 Review and approval on manual of operation of the systems.
 Review and approval on as built drawings.

7. All design shall be based to BSRIA Document BG6/2012, Design Framework of Building Services,
 Concept Phase shall be C1, C2 & C3.
 Schematic Phase Shall be C4, C5 & C6.
 Detailed Design Phase Shall be C7, C8.

Deliverables:

EMB & Associates will complete the Services in 120 calendar days, however commencing on the date
shall be upon first downpayment.

Calculation:
 Fire protection water tank capacity.
 Fire pump capacity
 Hydraulic calculation of the firefighting network.

Drawings:

The Fire Fighting layouts shall consist of the following:

o Fire Hydrants distribution and piping network.
o Fire hose reels installation and piping network,
o Portable fire extinguishers distribution,
o Sprinklers deluge system design for Solvent Extraction Plant only
o Future reservation for eventual system upgrade and further coordination with the
control bureau and client.

The Fire Detection layouts shall consist of the following:

o Initiation devices distribution and network.
o Notifications devices distribution and network.
o Voice evacuation system.

Deliverables Format:

The format of deliverables will be:

 All drawings will be issued in AutoCAD/PDF (Soft copy)
 All Schedules and BOQ will be submitted in PDF format.
 All documents generated will be in English Language.

Fees:

Design Phase that includes the pre-study, Concept and development phase:
Fees: 55’000 USD ($) (Fifty Five thousand US dollars).
 Downpayment: 20% of the Fees.
 Pre-Study & Concept Phase: 35% of the Fees.
 Detailed Design Phase: 45% of the fees

Execution Phase that includes the contract awarding, execution and handing over phase.
Fees: 40’000 USD ($) (Forty thousand US dollars).

 Downpayment: 30% of the Fees.

 Remaining: Depending on work progress.

Site supervision: 300 $ per site visit per engineer during the execution phase.

Exclusions:

The following items are not included in the services of EMB & Associates
a. Additional Services not indicated in this Agreement.
b. Revit 3D Model (if required).
c. All architectural as built drawings.
d. All industrial as built drawings.
e. All safety/technical issues related to the manufacturing process machinery.
f. Pipe stress analysis (contractor’s scope of work as per approved shop drawin gs).
g. Existing electrical installations.
h. Interface with existing systems.
i. Modifications in drawings of existing facility.
j. As built of existing items.
k. Major Changes, modifications or revisions made to the design by the Employer/ Representative
after submittal of each Design Stage.
l. Travel expenses and accommodation outside Lebanon. That includes 4 or 5 stars
accommodation for anyone of the traveling team.
m. Taxes and Levy
n. Sprinkler distribution layouts/calculation and automatic gas extinguishing systems for the
following in case required by regulations and approved client.
