 LANGUAGE ARTS: As we focus on Common Core listening and speaking skills with our upcoming play and
speech tournament/class assignment, we will review the last unit from our adoption, Advancements in
Technology, this short week. We have postponed our unit 5 assessment to this week, on Friday, to allow for more
in-depth review. In lieu of our regular story, we will emphasize expository text as we read and explore our science
textbook and a variety of books that delve into the solar system. Language Arts homework is enclosed and
due this Thursday. NO SPELLING THIS WEEK. In Writer’s Workshop, we will be crossing over to social
studies as we work on our president reports. We will be writing solar system cinquain poetry to correspond with an
upcoming art project. We are continuing with mini-lessons in figurative language AND writing with strong, “super
hero” words (e.g., inquired vs. asked, strolled vs. walked).
 MATH: Today we worked on the Exit Ticket Review for Module 3 – lessons 16-21. Homework tonight is to review
the Exit Tickets for a test tomorrow. On Wednesday, we will begin Module 4 – Geometry focusing on area.
