The textile industry is primarily concerned with the design, production and distribution of yarn,
cloth and clothing. The raw material may be natural, or synthetic using products of the
chemical industry.

Indian textile can be divided into several segments. Some of which can be listed below:

Cotton king pvt ltd comes under Cotton industry as it makes 100% cotton products for men
which includes Shirts, T-shirts, Trousers and jeans.

With ultra modern manufacturing plant in Baramati, near Pune, Cottonking ensures that all

unique distinction of being a manufacturer and retailer as well. Because of this Cottonking can
react to market changes swiftly, control costs and maintain quality which is a cut above the rest.

HISTORY AND MANAGEMENT INFORMATION

This company is selling cotton garments in India, Cottonking was founded a couple of decades
ago in 1996 by Mr. PradipMarathe,CMD,Cottonking and
Mrs.ShubhadaMarathe,CFO,Cottonking. With a BE (Mechanical) and MBA (Marketing) and a
rich experience of over 15 years, Mr. Marathe sensed the potential market for 100% cotton
garments.

Mr. Pradip Marathe

(Founder- Cotton king)

The company was established in 1996 with the aim of producing 100% cotton garments for men
which included Shirts, T-Shirts and trousers.

The manufacturing plant of cotton king was established in Baramati, Maharashtra, India. Later
the Cotton king expanded there stores in different cities of the country including Nagpur,
Mumbai, Hyderabad etc.

Having served earlier in Kirloskar Brothers (Compressor Division) as GM- Marketing (All India
sales), Mr. Pradip Marathe started Cottonking's first and flagship store at Nal Stop, Pune.

Mrs. ShubhadaMarathe, a graduate in commerce and the co-founder of Cottonking. Who is now
the CFO of the company contributed substantially to the growth of Cottonking as a brand and is
primarily responsible for Cottonking's sound and successful financial growth.

manufacturing and selling 100% cotton products for men.

The textile industry using the job- shop / the batch production.

The Weaving process is characterised by long planning horizon and relatively low speed of
machine, very long setup time, very long production batches, and mixed order and strong stock
based production. On the contrary, The wrap making process is characterised by short planning
horizons and high speed of machines. Short setup times, small production batches and only order
based productions. The above phases pose the most complex production Scheduling problems.

JOB-SHOP/Batch Production Technique:

In the job shop machinery used mostly general porpose to produce the goods.

Highly skilled labours is needed for this type of production system to handle and operate the

Cotton king do not face any problems related to shortage of raw materials for its production
purpose, Cotton king have tie-up with more than one industry which provide them raw materials
on regular basis for production.

2. Manpower:

Cotton king has sufficient manpower required to fulfill its day to day activities. Cotton king has
800 employees working for them daily for better n continuous production.

3. Coordination

As there are 800 employees working for Cotton king, for effective and efficient production they
coordinate with each other on regular intervals. This helps the company to produce their product
fast and effectively.

4. Upgraded technology:

For faster production Cotton king has not compromised with the machineries or technology used
for the production, Cotton king keeps on updating its machineries and technologies for better
competition and better production performance.

5. Systematic production of different products:

Cotton King produces varieties of product such as Shirts, Trousers etc of different shapes and
sizes and to avoid chaotic work they arrange these different line of production in a systematic
way.

6. Target Oriented:
Cotton King does target oriented production which means they provide there employees with
certain targets of production in a particular time period, this helps in achieving fast production
for the company.

Negative points of Cotton King:

1. No proper safety equipments:

There is no proper safety equipments provided to the workers for working in the machinery,
some workers has just been provided with the gloves while other workers work bare hand
causing them injuries.

2. Lack of proper working condition:

There is a poor working condition in cotton king; there are lots of machinery arranged in only
one floor and all the employees working on that floor making it more chaotic and complicated.

3. Only one shift of work:

There is only one shift that is general shift for production work, this may result in less production
work since more shifts of work will increase the production efficiency of the firm.

4. Overload of work causing lot of mistakes:

There are lots of mistakes done by the workers because sometimes the work load is too high for
them and they have to work continuously, which causes mistakes by the workers.
Future Planning

 Cotton King the leading chain of cotton apparels for men has scored a century of its retail
outlets. The 100th retail outlet of Cotton King was launched in Goa recently.
 Director of Cotton King Pradeep Marathete said “Very soon Cotton King will introduce a
special celebration offer for its customers to commemorate the occasion.”
 Commenting on future plans he said that the company wishes to double the count of its
outlets and thus wishes to take it to 200 in the next 2-3 years.
 Currently Cotton King Showrooms are operational in Maharashtra (Including Mumbai),
Karnataka and Goa, further expansion of retail chain is planned with foray in states like
Andhra Pradesh, Telengana and Madhya Pradesh.
 The company has identified 6 acres of land near its exiting unit in Baramati and is
planning to invest another 25 Cr to expand its production base.
 CONCLUSION.
 After visiting Cotton King private limited company we came into conclusion that
the company is having the vast market nationally. They can create new oppurtunities for
17hemselves in the market to increase the size of their business in the market
.
 The company produces 100% Cotton clothes only for men. i.e. Shirts, T-shirts, Trousers
and jeans.

 The company is a labour intensive company providing employment to almost 800

employees and helping them to earn a living.

SUGGESTION
 Cotton king should opt for more than one shift of production this will result in more
production and sales of the product and thus more profit.
 Cotton King should also start producing Female garments as it has a vast market in the
nation and will increase there customers too.
 Cotton King should do better marketing of there brand so that everyone is aware of there
product.
