Introduction

High school graduates are faced with hard decision every year on where to enroll for college

education and what career to choose. The decision on good career choice and school

sometimes depend on how the way students perceive the world and their future. Some of them

may not have enough knowledge and consciousness about how they should process

information from personal, social, economical, political, spiritual, and environmental aspects of

putting into context and realization of having a successful profession (Aguado,Laguador, Deligero,

2015). Their decisions are influenced by the nature of the person such as their culture, values,

social class and people they admire. They are also affected by external factor such as

advertising, parent’s , peers and teacher’s influenced and also affected by internal factors such

as vibrancy of school activities, employability of graduates, prestige and quality of facilities

(Dagang and De Mesa, 2017). There is increase in numbers of researchers conducting studies

that identifies the factors affecting the student’s decision on good career choice and school.

Pascual (2014) stated that students’ career success can be best attained if the right course

suited to their personality, ability and intellectual serves as their guide in choosing the course

they are to take in college. Dagang and De Mesa (2017) Found that the strong influence of

parents on their children’s choice of tertiary school. It is deeply rooted in the consciousness of

the Filipino people the respect for elders, hence the strong influence of parents on children’s

decision.

Conducting a research about determining the factors affecting the career choice and school is

very necessary it will help the student to plan and decide what school and career to choose or

take. It is in this light that the researcher wanted to conduct this study to determine the Factors

Affecting the Choice of School and Students Level of Interest towards Accountancy and Business

Management Program.

Conceptual Framework

In this research, the study aims to investigate the factors affecting the choice of school and

students level of interest towards Accountancy Business and Management Program. It

specifically aimed to identify the factors that could primarily influence the choice of student to

decide what school and what course to take in college.

The study takes place in 3 different schools in Arayat. The researchers will get 20 students

in every school taking ABM strand.

Research Problem

This study aims to identify the factors affecting the choice of school and degree program of the

Grade 12 Accountancy and Business Management Students. It specifically aim to identify the

persons who could primarily influence the choice of the respondents to decide what degree

program to take and enroll. Specifically, it will seek answers to the following questions: 1.) Who

influence your choice of school and career to take? 2) What are the factors affecting your choice

of school? 3.) What are the factors affecting your interest toward ABM? 4.) Is there significant

difference between the student’s perceptions from private and public senior high schools on the

factors affecting their choice of school and interest towards the Accountancy and Business

Management program?

Hypotheses

There is no significant difference between the student’s perceptions from private and public

senior high schools on the factors affecting their choice of school and interest towards the

Accountancy and Business Management program.
