DESCRIPTIVE
Why NOENE® ?
n the past, humans walked on natural ground with bare feet, adapting their locomotor system to the pliant surfaces of forests and
I fields, on earth and sand. The elasticity and structure of the ground allowed for the absorption of the greater part of the shock
created by the human step.
Nowadays we must walk in shoes, mostly on hard surfaces such as tar, concrete, and tiling.
These rigid surfaces, far from absorbing kinetic energy, tend to reflect it in a harmful shockwave - technically known as negative energy.
Negative energy is transmitted via vibrations that reach neural zones of the locomotor system, causing perpetual micro-trau-
mas, which in turn promote the development of tendinitis, peri-tendinitis, talalgias, peri-ostitis and fatigue fractures, soreness of the
feet, hip, knee, back and lower cranial joints. The vibrations are transmitted by the tendons to muscle areas, forcing them to work in
opposition to dynamic movement. The result is increasingly persistent fatigue that leads, among other conditions, to swollen limbs.
NOENE® material
OENE is a vibro-absorbant elastomer made up of crystalline micro-cells. A new type of material, it is part of the rubber family but
N differs from traditional elastomers due to several special characteristics.
The 2 central features of NOENE® are its rubber-like elasticity and its innovative capacity for shock absorption. These features
work together - with the elasticity permitting energy intake, and the shock absorption characteristic allowing for energy to be released.
NOENE® was created for all industrial sectors in an effort to reduce the wear and tear due to vibrations on machines.
The creators of the material ingeniously applied its qualities to humans, particularly in chiropody. NO Energy NEgative
(NOENE®) soles were developed by William Piccione.

SPORTS RANGE
W ith regard to pain and injury, the odds are even worse
for athletes than for others. An individual running on
EW
hard ground receives 3 to 5 times his or her weight in reflec-
ted waves, or harmful energy that moves at 120 km/h in the
N
leg bones and the spinal column.

he walking sole is the shock absorber you will use
T for your daily activities and leisure. Walking is a
recommended exercise, but we almost always practise
it on hard ground (tar, concrete, tiles…) Each step
sends up a shockwave from heel to head by way of
joints, tendons, and muscles. On hard ground the shock
is amplified to 100-200kg/wave per step. The shock-
waves are imperceptible but stealthily accumulate
until, one fine day, without warning, persistent fatigue
and inexplicable pains appear.

EXCERPT
T he National Health center in Atlanta, Georgia has sent out a warning: more than a third of jogging and marathon adepts who run
at least 10km per week will suffer an injury that will impose a reduction in distance. This data is based on a survey that showed that
men running between 48 and 62 km per week on average face a 40% risk of injury, with women facing a 60% risk. The most
common injury occurs at the knee, followed by the foot, the tibia, the heel, and the back.
The effect of this new product trading under the name NOENE®
comes into play at the time of impact. Thanks to the enclosure of
the crystalline micro-cells within the elastomer, the vibratory
energy that is released is dispersed in proportion to the force
applied (the action), thereby preventing the energy reflection (the
reaction) that is usually generated by other materials. The
elastomer NOENE® soles and heel pads possess 4 “shock features”:

COMPARATIVE TESTS
Charts illustrating the force that a free-falling steel ball transmits to a test cell. Pieces of
micro-aerated rubber, Ethyl-Vinyl-Acetate and NOENE® were placed between the iron ball
and the measuring instrument. The results show that at equal falling distance of the ball
and equal test material size, NOENE® fully absorbs the energy generated by the shock
(there is no rebound effect) and reduces the impact on the lower surface of the
measuring tool. (Centre of Polytechnic Bio-Engineering, Milano Biomechanical Research
Centre).
