also to teach us to use the right words and the right.
And we hope this paper can to increase knowledge and experience for the
readers, For the future can improve the shape of the paper or add to make it better
again.Due to the limitations of our knowledge and experience, we believe there are

2. DISSCUSION
A. Definition of Adverb
Adverb is a word which modifies (gives more information about) a verb or
adjective or other adverb.
For example :
1. He Replied
2. He Replied quikly
The word “quickly” is an adverb which gives more information about verb
“reply” in the above example. The adverb “quickly” in above example tells us
about the verb “reply” that the reply was given quickly or with no time delay.
Similarly an adverb may also modify adjective or other adverb or other part of
speech except the noun.
B. Formation of adverb
1. Most of adverbs are formed by adding “-ly” to adjectives. For example,
happily, easily, quickly, angrily, correctly, fluently, proudly, loudly, rapidly,
immediately etc.
2. A few adverbs exists without “-ly”. For example, fast, slow, deep, far, hard,
high, wrong, right, low, well, tight, straight, there, here, close, late, very, too,
not.

C. Types/Kinds of Adverb
Adverb modifies verb by giving us the following information.
How the action occurs
Where the action occurs
How many times action occur
At which time the action occurs
Intensity of action
1. Adverb of Manner
2. Adverb of Place
3. Adverb of Time
4. Adverb of Frequency
5. Adverb Degree
6. Adverb of Affirmation
7. Interrogative Adverb
8. Relative Adverb
1. Adverbs of Manner
These adverbs tell us that in which manner the action occurs or how
the action occurs or occurred or will occur.
Examples :
She speaks loudly.
He was driving slowly.
You replied correctly.
He runs fast.
They solved the problem easily.
Listen to me carefully.

2. Adverb of Place.
Adverb of place tells us about the place of action or where action
occurs/occurred/will occur.
e.g. here, there, near, somewhere, outside, ahead, on the top, at some place.
Examples :
He will come here.
The children are playing outside.
He was standing near the wall.
They were flying kites on the top of hill
He lives somewhere in New York.
She went upstairs.
3. Adverb of Time
These adverbs tell us about the time of action. e.g. now, then, soon,
tomorrow, yesterday, today, tonight, again, early, yesterday.
Examples :
I will buy a computer tomorrow.
The guest came yesterday.
Do it now.
She is still waiting for her brother.
He got up early in the morning.
4. Adverb of Frequency
Adverbs of frequency tell us how many times the action occurs or
occurred or will occur.
e.g. daily, sometimes, often, seldom, usually, frequently, always, ever,
generally, rarely, monthly, yearly.
Examples :
He goes to school daily.
She never smokes.
He is always late for class.
They always come in time.
Barking dogs seldom bite.
The employees are paid monthly.
The employees are paid every month.

5. Adverb of Degree
Adverb of degree Is an adverb that expresses how far ( the level or degree ) of a
situation or incident . Normally explain / modifying adjective / adjective or adverb
itself . Example : enough , fairly ( bit / used for positive statements ) , rather (
somewhat / used for negative statements ) , nearly, very , too , only , quite , and
so on.
Examples of applications in the sentence :
1) She is very pretty girl. (Ia seorang gadis yang sangat manis).
2) I quite understand. (Saya sangat mengerti).
6. Adverb of Affirmation
Adverb og affirmation is suppression or affirmative answer. Example: certainly
(would have been), naturally (of course), surely (surely), of course (certainly),
absolutely (absolute), and so on.
Examples of applications in the sentence:
-Of course she can speak English. (Tentu ia dapat bicara bahasa Inggris).
7. Interrogative Adverb
Interrogative adverb Is an adverb that helped shape the question. Each adverb
this type associated with other adverb.
Examples:
1) How did he go?
How is the interrogative adverb of manner.
2) Where did he go?
Where an interrogative adverb of place.
8. Relative Adverb
Relative adverb Is an adverb that serves as a connector of two clauses in a
sentence. The words were the same as the interrogative adverb, the difference is
only in the layout position, namely relative adverb is usually placed in the middle
of a sentence (between the two clauses), while interrogative adverb at the
beginning of the sentence.
Examples:
1) I asked him how he went.
How is relative adverb of manner.
2) I asked him where he went.
Where is relative adverb of place.

3. CLOSSING
A. Conclusion
Adverb is a word which modifies (gives more information about) a verb or
adjective or other adverb. And Most of adverbs are formed by adding “-ly” to
adjectives. For example, happily, easily, quickly, angrily, correctly, fluently,
proudly, loudly, rapidly, immediately etc. A few adverbs exists without “-ly”. For
example, fast, slow, deep, far, hard, high, wrong, right, low, well, tight, straight,
there, here, close, late, very, too, not.
B. Suggestion
based on the definition of the adverb above, we need to better understand the use
of words appropriately and correctly, with examples that have been listed above
we should have been able to distinguish between sentences using adverbs,
sentences using adjectives, sentences that use the word place, sentence using
the word time, and a sentence using the word frequency.
