On Menage Numbers and its Applications and Properties

Rationale:

there are different branches mathematics and one of its branches is Combinatorial Mathematics.
Combinatorial mathematics is concerned with problems of selection, arrangement, and aoperation within
a finite or discrete system. Combinatorics has many applications to other areas of mathematics, including
graph theory, coding and cryptography, and probability.

In combinatorial mathematics the Menage Problem or “Probleme des Manages” ask for the number of
different ways in which it is possible to seat a set of male-female couples at a dining table so that men
and women alternate and nobody sits next to his partner.

It is a topic related to pure mathematics which will give a great interest to readers and future researchers.
Its rarity in the field of study gives a challenge to the researchers to add up challenge.

Objectives:

The main objectives of this study was to dicuss the Menage Numbers. Specifically, it atempted to answer
the following quastions:

 What is Menage Numbers?

 What are the properties of Menage Numbers?
 How is Menage Numbers related to:
o Latin Rectangles K(3,n)?
o Catalan Numbers
o .......
 How Menage Numbers are applied on the following:
o ........

On Alcuin’s Sequence

Rationale:

A famous problem posed by Alcuin of York (c. 740 – 804) gives rise to an integer sequence not unlike the
famous Fibonacci. Little known about the background and early life of Alcuin of York who discovered
sequence of integers which is called after him.

Alcuin’s sequence had several interesting properties. It describe basic prperties and demonstrated how to
derive a new one. It showcases the relationship of Alcuin’s Number to partition of integer. Aside from its
conception, ardous study of this sequence had been done. The results could be found in many branches
such as in Combinatorial Mathematics and Number Theory. This study was found to be an interesting
topic to develope and discuss because of the interesting and surprising properties of the sequence has.

Objective:

This study aimed to explore Alcuin’s Sequence. Specifically it sought to answer the following questions:

 What is Alcuin’s Sequence?

 What are the genereating functionsof Alcuin’s Sequence?
 What are the properties of Alcuin’s Sequence
 How Alcuin’s Sequence is applied on .....
 How is Alcuin’s Sequence related to: ..... (if there’s any)

On Motzkin Number and its Application

Rationale:

the Motzkin Numbers are one of the several numbers sequences introduced in 1948 named after Theodore
Motzkin and are aptly named because they count almost as many things as Catalan numbers and have
diverse application in geometry, combinatorics and number theory.

The researcher chose the Motzkin Numbers because the researcher wanted to show the beauty of Motzkin
Number, to determine how challenging Motzkin Numbers are, and because of its unfamillarity. The
researcher wanted to introduce that the Motzkin Numbers are not just a number but also a unique one like
other category of numbers.

Obejctives:

the main objective of this study is to discuss the Motzkin Numbers. Specifically. It sought to answer the
following questions:

 What is Motzkin Numbers

 What are the properties of Motzkin Numbers
 How is Motzkin Numbers were related to: ......
 How Motzkin Numbers were applied to: .....
