Giveaways Using Facebook Ads & Manychat

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I limit the amount of daily/weekly coupons given away through Facebook ads? What if I
want to distribute them all in a shorter period of time?

The best way to control the coupon distribution is by shutting the Facebook ad off each day.
It’s not exact & does require monitoring.

If I find a better way to do it, I’ll let you know.

I have read that giveaways and 90% coupons are now ineffective for ranking. Is it true that
discounted sales carry less weight for ranking?

Updated 20/11/18:

Amazon is changing its algorithm rapidly however this is a false rumor.

Discounted giveaways do still work for ranking. I believe that other factors are becoming
more difficult – particularly to ‘stick’ the launch (i.e. does your listing convert well enough to
hold the rankings it gains through the giveaway).

Amazon is also starting to give buyer accounts a ‘quality score’. According to this, if a buyer
account is fake or only ever buys heavily discounted products, then their purchase could have
less impact than if a real/quality buyer account makes the same purchase. This makes it
more valuable to have your own list of (real) buyers to do future promotions to, eg a
manychat list or email list, versus using a launch service buyers list.

If I do a 90% giveaway using Facebook and someone leaves a review, will it be unverified?

Yes – any discount > 50% will count as an unverified review. This particular strategy is for
keyword sales velocity and not for gaining reviews.

Run a different Facebook/Manychat campaign if your desired goal is verified reviews.

Are there markets/products that don’t need giveaways? Can some products take off organically?

Yes! Giveaways are not always necessary. The majority of the time I launch without
giveaways.

See the video ‘Developing Your Launch Strategy’ to determine if a giveaway is necessary.

A product will almost never take off “organically” – unless the niche is so good that
customers are just scrolling back 20 pages to find new products.

However in the right conditions your product WILL take off very quickly using only PPC to get
the initial sales started. It is a great feeling to see this.
Does the discount need to be 90% Can I try 30%, 50%, 70%, etc?

90% is recommended for the first launch.

You want to GUARANTEE that people will buy – so that you get sales velocity immediately.

Also, your ad costs will go up as the discount amount decreases.

For the first launch it’s best to just get things moving quickly. Feel free to test different
combinations later on.

Assuming my total number of giveaway units is the same either way, can I run the giveaway for
only 4 days (2x units per day)? What about more, for example 16 days (and 0.5x units per day)?

I personally find it is best to spread the giveaways over around about a week.

This gives you time to adjust the ads or fix any errors if something isn’t working.

Also sometimes Facebook can’t show your ad to enough people to be able to give away so
many units in a shorter period.

Halving your sales velocity and doing it over more days is not recommended – you may not
ever reach your desired ranking.

Feel free to experiment.

Why not use Zapier & Google Sheets to distribute the coupons?

Yes, you can do this. It just takes more time to setup, but costs a bit less than Coupon Carrier.

UPDATE as of 21/10/18 – Zonpages can now distribute coupon codes! So if you’re already
using the URL rotator then this option is free. I haven’t personally used Zonpages for coupon
distribution yet but feel free to try it yourself.

If you already have Amazon customers and want to target a giveaway just to those customers, or
create a lookalike audience, how do you get their info?

Zonpages does this quickly and easily.
