Preface
It is our pleasure to present you a copy of the ‘Reference Book – Euronext.liffe
Amsterdam Derivatives’.The latest version of this Reference Book is published
on www.euronext.com > Tools & Services > Documents Centre > General
Documentation. The Reference Book contains contract specifications of all
options and futures traded at Euronext.liffe Amsterdam*, as well as information
on transaction fees, participants, procedures and the Prof Trade Facility.

One Exchange – One Trading Platform

Euronext.liffe migrated successfully to the LIFFE CONNECT ® trading system.

Euronext.liffe created a single market for derivatives, by bringing all its derivatives
products together on one electronic trading platform – LIFFE CONNECT ®.
Euronext.liffe contracts are now traded on the same platform in London, Brussels,
Paris, Lisbon and Amsterdam. The migration from the Switch trading system to
LIFFE CONNECT ® brings material consequences for the operation and regulation
of Euronext.liffe Amsterdam:

• The deletion of the requirement for brokers to furnish to prospective clients the
explanatory memorandum (options and futures), in Dutch “het Officieel Bericht”.
Following the migration each member may provide the information about
derivative products it deems necessary and/or is required by law.
As a free service to its members Euronext.liffe Amsterdam shall continue to issue
the information, which used to be included in the explanatory memorandum
“het Officieel Bericht” until further notice.

• The deletion of the requirement for brokers to require their clients to provide
margin as determined by Euronext.liffe Amsterdam, the so-called “Public Margins”.
Following the migration to LIFFE CONNECT ® brokers will be free to set their
own standards on margins required as they deem necessary and/or is required
by law.
As a free service to its members, Euronext.liffe Amsterdam will continue to
calculate the former Public Margins on a monthly basis until further notice.
These (non-mandatory) margins are published via Amsterdam Info Flashes,
via the monthly Euronext.liffe Bulletin, and on www.euronext.com.

• The deletion of the requirement to report position and exercise limits to

Euronext.liffe Amsterdam.
* In this brochure:
– ‘Euronext.liffe’ refers to the combined Euronext derivatives markets in
Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Lisbon and the LIFFE market in London.
– ‘Euronext.liffe Amsterdam’ refers to the derivatives operation in Amsterdam,
i.e. the Euronext Amsterdam Derivative Markets.

Composition of the AEX-index®

The AEX-index® is a weighted index based on the prices of shares in 25 leading companies listed
on Euronext Amsterdam N.V. The composition of the AEX-index® can be considered
representative of general trends on the stock market of Euronext Amsterdam N.V.

The securities included in the AEX-index® are selected on the basis of turnover in these shares on
Euronext Amsterdam. In order to qualify for inclusion in the index, the turnover in a security at
Euronext Amsterdam should be at least equal to 20%1 of the total number of shares issued,
calculated over the course of the previous calendar year. The weighting of each security in the
AEX-index® is determined on the basis of the company’s market capitalisation at the time the
index is compiled or periodically adjusted. The market capitalisation will be adjusted in
accordance with the following rules if part of the issued share capital of a company is not freely
available for trading (i.e. the free float is restricted):

– If the free float of a security is less than or equal to 50% but greater than 25%, 50% of the
market capitalisation will be taken into account for the purpose of determining the weight.
– If the free float of a security is less than or equal to 75% but greater than 50%, 75% of the
market capitalisation will be taken into account for the purpose of determining the weight.
– If the free float is greater than 75%, the total market capitalisation will be taken into account for
the purpose of determining the weight.
– If the free float of a security is less than 25%, the security will not be included in the index
unless the free float equals, or is greater than, the free float of the security which ranks 25th
on Euronext Amsterdam in terms of free float market capitalisation.
– If a security having a free float of less than 25% is included in the index in accordance with
the above, 25% of the market capitalisation will be taken into account for the purpose of
determining the weight.

The maximum weighting of a security in the index is 15% at the time of periodic adjustment.
The weighting of each security is expressed in the number of shares included in the AEX-index®.
The number of shares required according to the weighting is generally rounded off to the nearest
whole number.

The AEX-index® may be revised to take account of stock dividends, stock splits,
bonus issues or rights issues. However, the AEX-index® will not be revised if in such a
situation the impact of revision on the index would amount to less than 0.01 index
point.

The settlement value for options and futures on the AEX-index® is calculated on the last day of
trading of the expiration month on the basis of the average of the levels calculated prices quoted
for the AEX-index® at one-minute intervals between 3.30 and 4.00 p.m. CET.
The rules of the AEX-index® are available on request from the Euronext Information Point (EIP)
tel. +31 (0) 20 550 5555.

The AEX-index® is calculated as follows:

1. Multiply the last price of each security in the index by that security’s weighting.
2. Add up the twenty-five results.
3. Divide the sum of 2) by 100.

110% as from 1 November 2004, please refer to Euronext announcement 2004-086.

● Prof Trade Facility
● 3

● 3.1 Introduction

Professional investors, such as pension funds, insurance companies and trading desks at
investment banks have different needs from private investors when it comes to derivatives
trading. Professional investors want to be able to process large orders without disrupting prices.

degree of counterparty risk. That is why professional investors use the Prof Trade Facility,
developed by Euronext.liffe.The Prof Trade Facility is a Wholesale Facility that combines the
freedom of the OTC market with the security of guaranteed settlement, meeting a key need of
professional investors. Prof Trades can be entered as a trade in a single series at one price with
one counterparty. It is also possible to trade one Prof Trade over different series in the class at
different prices against different counterparties. In this way it is possible to trade any
combination of series within a class. It is also possible to trade at different prices in one series
and it is possible to trade with different counterparties. This gives the professional investor
ultimate flexibility. The Prof Trade Facility is currently available for all Euronext.liffe Amsterdam
