We’ve been a lot of circumstances in life as a Filipinos.

Circumstances that made us stronger and bold today. Situations that made us
more nationalist and patriotic for the love of our country. Those bloody wars and
murderous conflagrations that we’ve been through freed us from unchained
imperialistic minds of invaders from different counties all over the world. These
scenarios prove that Filipinos aren’t just Filipinos but a Filipinos with lots of
potential of becoming a world’s greatest warriors.

We remember the days when our brethren fought for our freedom.
For an instance, during the American Era, our country was under the
governance of Americans in which the treaty of Parish encompasses the
redemption of the Philippines from Spain. We’ve been colonized subliminally by
the Americans for more than a decade. But Filipinos knew that they we’re being
slaves and apprentices of Americans so they fought back with guns and many
weapons. Some troops of Filipino leaders died and became hopeless of stealing
their own sovereignty. Eventually, it is indeed a peaceful talks and reconciliation
that justifies the means. With the amendment document of Tyddings-Mcduffe
Law, Philippines gained its own freedom from the hands of Americans in 1945. It
was indeed a successful way of acquiring the freedom from the imperialists.
However, the story doesn’t end that way. Filipinos continued to fight for their
freedom as Ferdinand Marcos ruled our country for more than two decades
while our country was also in the midst of the World War II. This has been the
main reason of burning the torch of the People Power Revolution. Filipinos knew
that Marcos was not right and was not a humanity-inclined president. So thus,
Filipino made remarkable and historical rallies including different hierarchal
people in the society. Even elite people were involved in this revolution. We
finally gained our rights as Marcos was ousted by the revolution. Corazon was
then became the next president to be seated at the Malacanang Palace. She
realized how cruel and inhumane Marcos was so she turned the entire country
into a new and powerful democratic republic territory.

From the revolutions, inhumanity, and indignations happened in our

country, we can attest to that as Filipinos to find meaningful lessons from it. The
first thing that Im sure everyone will agree with is that of being more nationalistic
individual. The goal and honest pledge of protecting our country form
imperialists will always come first when it comes to imperialism. In a situation right
now, China is slowly stealing our territory with no doubt of occupying our own
islands such as the Scarborough Shoal and the never ending debate regarding
the South China Sea. With this being said, we as a teenagers have the
capabilities to be part of the oppositions against China. By posting and sharing
posters and factual information on social media, we can actually contribute for
everybody’s awareness.

Secondly, As what Dr. Jose Rizal did during his time, he used the
power of mind rather than using violence act. Through his majestic books
entitled, El Filibustersmo and Nolli Me Tangere, Filipinos back then became
aware of what’s happening in their surroundings. We are actually stepping up to
be this generations’ modern Jose Rizal if we are just going to use the power of
technology in times of need.

Lastly, we have learned that unity can conquer supremacy. In

today’s scenes, we can see divisions in our society. There’s poor and rich,
superior and inferior. But these divisions may not be the reason for us to be apart.
May this variations and differentiations be the key for us to be united more over
the time because despite the fact the our country is an archipelago and has a
lot of islands, there’s nothing wrong of showing the world that we can be united
with our own ways and definitions.

We all want a place where everyone is harmoniously making noise

of peace. We all want a place where everyone is fighting for what is right for
everyone. We are the testimonies of the bravery of every Filipino. The thing is,
can you be the warrior of our country? Are you ready to protect the territory
that our brethren fought for?
