According to Derick Newton. College is definitely “worth it.” There's simply zero
evidence that getting a college degree is anything but “worth it.” ... For those with a high
school diploma and no college, it was 3.5%, which is also great. But there's no doubt you're
more likely to have a job if you have a college degree.

This study aims to use this as an instrument for them to achieve career without
regretting it at last. Researchers goal is to provide information and a question that will give
benefit to student who are still confused or to a student who have career choice that this
study can be a tool to survey their capabilities and value. This study seeks information
about different data and gather details from the students about the career they have and can
be used as bases of school to start a good workplace for them so that they can show their
talents and intelligence successfully.

Student must take seriously in choosing career because it is the way how to survive
and success in the future. First job has impact to students life because it will help you to
motivate to be successful and your expression help you to achieve more goals.

Statement of the Problem

One of the most crucial and important decision a person or students has to make in
choosing the perfect profession. This can be one of the measures whether an individual will
be successful in the future or not.

Specifically, this study seeks to answer the following questions:

1.What are the demographic profile of these STIers in terms of:

1.1 Age

1.2 Sex

1.3 Socio- economic status?

2. What is the percentage of STIers in terms of Statuses of Identity

2.1 Identity foreclosure

2.2 Identity moratorium

2.3 Identity achievement

3. How many percent of young people are prepared or not?

Significance of the Study

At the end of the study, we would be able to get data about the decision of the future
career of students and recommend benefits to both students and school of STI Calbayog
that can help future generation to build and achieve success. Below are the benefits of the
research to STI students and to school.

STI students. It helps students to choose a career they like or a self-evaluation that makes
them realize what and how the career impacts their life. As a researcher we seek to find out
what professions are demands on our generation. It helps student for decision making and
check their capacities and interest. Shape work ethics and improve critical think.

STI Calbayog (school) - In this research, it shows how we can make it easier to gather
important details and information using the newest and latest technology like cellphone,
computer, and etc. School can catch up and gather some important information through
this study. That give idea and open or prepare a workplace to student suitable to their career
choice. They can formulate plan to achieve many students to enroll that help school to be
more successful.

Scope and Delimitation

The study focuses on the Profession taking by the Grade 12 students of STI
Calbayog. The data collection will be conducted to every student per strand (5/6) of System
Technology Institute School Year 2019-2020 who will be the representative of population.
The other students which do not fall as part of Grade 12 are not within the scope of the
research.

Hypothesis

Would be the students take a profession career after learning towards if they might
graduate in K-12 program in STI Calbayog or they might find directly a job career in the
future. This level intrinsically educated but would rather a professionalism aspect that these
student will surely unto success nevertheless they might striving hard to achieve their
career choice.

H1 85% of the students have an ideal professional while 15% are still undecided in
the course they want to take after finishing Grade 12 in STI Calbayog because of some of
them are lack financially and preparedness about their course.

Therefore, student must be guided and nourished them with encouragement and
prepare them to have a right path and make the students 100% sure for their career choice
and they can change and help the world.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

 External Factors (Operational) - are elements that influence a business' results and
performance from the outside. These factors are often part of the economic,
political and social environment of the locations where the company operates.
 Identity foreclosure ( Operational) - is a stage of self-identity discovery in which
an individual has an identity but hasn't explored other options or ideas. Most
common in young adolescents, in this stage the individual has just adopted the traits
and qualities of parents and friends.
 Identity moratorium (Theoretical) - a temporary prohibition of an activity.
 Identity achievement (Theoretical) - a thing done successfully, typically by effort,
courage, or skill.
 Internal factors (Operational) - can strongly affect how well a company meets its
objectives, and they might be seen as strengths if they have a favorable impact on
a business, but as weaknesses if they have a deleterious effect on the business.
 Professions (Theoretical) - a paid occupation, especially one that involves
prolonged training and a formal qualification.

3. School Influences – Inside the school premises have a powerful on adolescents’ career
development.

a. School- Provides an atmosphere for self- development. Helping by career


guidance.
b. Teachers – Offer solutions and recommend career concerns. They create
activities that can enhance students skills and abilities.
c. Guidance Counselors – They contribute to positive growth and development of
the students. They help students on their educational and career goals.

According to International Baccalaureate. The career-related study is designed to
prepare students for higher education, an internship or apprenticeship, or a position in a
designated field of interest. It provides the opportunity for students to learn about theories
and concepts through application and practice while developing broad-based skills in
authentic and meaningful contexts.
Career choice is a critical decision every individual makes as it impacts all aspects
of his life in the future. The life they can have in the future is in their hand, people choice
has always have an impact that might result to positive and negative. A number of factors
influence career choices in people, and this is documented in literature. Both personal and
external factors have been seen to play a role.

CAREER DECISION MAKING
Decision is one hardest thing we can have in our life because it can affect everything
we have. Not only varies to our status, but it can affect our environment and social
development. Even though it is tough to decide where to go its is better to come up a good
solution that can help future generation to be creative, responsible and use their skill useful.
Chandna (2014), studied the career maturity levels and level of aspiration and the
relationship between them in 120 adolescents in India. Gender differences, differences
based on place of residence (rural, urban), and type of school were also investigated.
Majority of the sample had an average level of career maturity. They, however, did not
find significant differences in career maturity and level of aspiration based on the type of
school, gender, and rural and urban participants.
A survey was conducted in India by the Ph.D. Research Bureau (2014) to
understand student perceptions and career expectations, finance management, income
sources, and expenditures. The participants were 3000 students studying in
undergraduation and post- graduation courses in Delhi-NCR region, India. Financial
stability was one of the main expectation of the student’s. 44% of the students preferred
private sector jobs while 36% preferred government jobs.
Career preferences depends on career expectations and other factors like
occupational stereotypes. In the Indian society, a preference for careers related to
engineering and medicine has been reported. This is illustrated by the findings of the
following studies. Janetius, Mini, and Chellaturai (2011) reported that 36% of students
preferred engineering as a career choice while 20% preferred medicine.

COLLEGE RATE AND PERCENTAGE


Georgetown researchers found. But about 25 percent of working students are
simultaneously employed full-time and enrolled in college full-time( October 29,2015).

In fact, it's been reported that about 70 to 80 percent of college students are active
in the labor market while enrolled in college. While some students work part-
time jobs during college, many take on a larger workload. In fact, about 40 percent of
undergraduates work at least 30 hours a week (May 21,2018).

The Georgetown report found that 70 percent of full-time college students


are working. While more students are working, the number working full-time has
decreased, from 40 percent in the late 1980s to 26 percent in 2012 (November 18, 2018).

Population or sample of the study

The study refers to the total number of students in Grade 12 in every strand
exempted the researchers strand. Below is the level of the said total population of the
latter.

The respondents of the study which were randomly selected or by the use of
population excluding the researchers of this study is 110 which is a credible sample from
maximum population.
