TASK 1

The pie chart illustrates the percentages of the collected trash in a city area in one community cleaning
day while the data table below expresses the top three kinds of rubbish in several destinations around
the urban. The city condition, in general, stated the cigarette butts to be the most common litte. In
addition, other source like plastic bottles, aluminium cans or glass also make up a large proportions in the
statistics. Although these percentages are nearly represented for the city’s trend, there’s still some
differences in each locations of the city.

First of all, when looking at the pie chart, it is seen that the cigarette butts is the most common junk to be
found, with the proportion of 40%, more than a third of the collected rubbish. Next is plastics bottles with
21%, aluminium cans with 12% and glass with a tenth. The last two position is drinking straws and other
junk only makes up for a small percentage, in respectively, 8% and 9%.

To have a closer look, the table describe the Diego Beach, of the 3 places, to have the biggest load of trash
throughout the city with the unbelievable high amount of tyres and cigarette butts. In the second location,
the Memorial Park, the load of trash is commonly contained cigarette butts and aluminium cans with the
total weight of top three articles is 378 kilos. Finally, it is the Arden Park with a fairly low amount of trash
with 66 kilos in total weight of the top three.

TASK 2: In some rich countries, the number of children at secondary school or high school who are
taking science subjects is declining.

What effect might this have on the children’s and their countries’ futures? How can children be
encouraged to study science?

Science has always been the leading factors in developed countries for years. However, there are a
considerably unwanted to these countries when a vast number of secondary school and high school
students make their choice of science subjects are declining.

First and foremost, the children at that ages, the adolescents, are trying to orient their interest and may
set up their career path. So, the science engagement in their study shall help them to build up critical
thinking skills, creativity and independent research which are far much needed in their future. At the same
time, science turns up in every corner of our daily life from such a small electric button, smartphones, TV
to the huge vehicles like motorbikes, cars or airplanes, so it is essential for the children to be exposed with
the scientific so that they can understand their functions and the social responsibility glued to the science
learning.

Secondly, science is undeniable a vital element in developing an economy. The serious decrease of science
learners and researchers also means that the science innovations will be decreased. This can lead to the
re-purchase technologies in these countries from the others, which pessimistically diminishes their
comparative advantage within international market. And if the situation last with continuity, the economy
health will badly affected with the backward technology.

With these reasons, I think there are some possible method to evoke the children in learning science. The
first way is to create the connection between science’s theory and their functions in our daily life. This is
far more captivated and practical than just show the students “what science is” on words. The second
solution is to involve students in competitive activities like science contests or science fair to make them
more motivated. And final solution has to be taken action by educators to transfer the knowledge in such
a simple, interesting but still adequate approaches.

In conclusion, science education have a significant influence not only in the children’s life and career but
also their countries’ future. Therefore, it is recommended to create a revolution in science approaches
the children to make them more interest in these subjects.
