Taking part in The Mark Scott Leadership for Life Award has been a
demanding task both physically and mentally, and has played a key
input in the team working and communication skills that I possess. The
award included a camping expedition on Ben Nevis which tested my
stamina, perseverance and patience, but has given me a grand sense of
achievement. The award has also encouraged me to enjoy working
practically and challenging any problems that come my way.
Being a care leaver who has previously lived with more than ten people
in the same house, I have learned to get along with people of different
ages and cultures. This has taught me to deal with difficult situations in
a mature and empathic way. I currently live on my own in a one-
bedroom flat and have been there for nearly two years, which has put
me in charge of many responsibilities and has enforced great maturity
skills needed for university.
