CHAPTER I

PRELIMINARY

1.1 Background

Indonesia is a country that has rainy and dry weather, when rainy
weather is coming sometimes it will appear some problems like flood,
landslide, fallen tree, even it will collapse dam because of the rain is to heavy,
then here in Water Engineering course we as Engineer have to know how to
handle it, how to predict, build, and maintain it, because weather is a things
that can’t avoid, so that to keep the city from the flood, that will destroy the
city, or sub district. As we heard in a few years ago that dam of Situgintung
just collapse and it takes a million people death, as an engineer we know that
the area of Situgintung should not make as an residential, because it will be
harmful, but it can avoid if the routine maintenance is work then the engineer
can tell the people that the dam will collapse.

In water engineering 2 the course is discussed about how to make

some channel design, reservoir design, and also to make it save until a years
that already design how long the dam will hold the water. Then in this paper
report, we will calculate and design, where the calculation will be done with a
software of WinTr and Arcgis which both of them is a software that useful for
working water engineering 2 where in Water Engineering 2 will be design the
channel and, dam in certain point that already define which is point of origin,
and the river is Cikreteg river where it is located between Cileungsi and Ciawi
sub-district in Bogor District.

1.2 Scope of Problem

The assignment scope is we have to determine from watershed

delineation from point of origin until how to designing the dam, where the
area of point origin is located in CiKreteg river between Cileungsi and Ciawi
sub-distrcit, in Bogor district. Which the scope is based on the watershed that
we already made. In the watershed we determine to divided the sub-watershed
into 5 and the quantity of reach is 2.
1.3 Purposes

The purposes of the paper is to finish the final assignment of water

engineering 2, where it summarize and answer the problem of designing
channel and dam for CiKreteg river between Ciawi and Cileungsi sub-district
in Bogor district.

The purpose also to increase our knowledge about water engineering

for the writer also the reader, so it will make us know about the important of
water engineering system and how to use it in the real life.

1.4 Writing Method

For writing the paper we use the method of study of literature. The
references is just not based on the presentation that lectures gave but we also
takes another information from books, internet (web and e-book).

1.5 Writing Systematics

this paper is arrange into three chapters with preliminary as the first
chapter, discussion for second chapter and the closing for the third chapter.
For the first chapter will be explain about background, scope of problem,
purposes of this paper, writing method, and writing systematics. For the
second chapter the contain is to discuss about our problem that the design and
calculation of the dam, channel, and etc. Then the last one third chapter will be
as closing chapter where it will contain some conclusion at this chapter.
2. 2025 Land Use plan By PERDA (Bogor District)

In PERDA Bogor Pasal 17 there are structure plan for the space area, where in
Bogor district will contain of:

a) Central system of rural settlement;

b) Central system of urban settlement;
c) Regional infrastructure system.

Pasal 18 (3) said that rural growth center (DPP) and the area for DPP is
consist of:

high accessibility to the District Cibinong; and

c. Orde III, the District Jasinga, District Parung Panjang, District

Pasal 24 wich discuss about the area that give some protection into the area like
protected forest area, so these are the water catchment area:

Pasal 27 there is an area of National park so in Bogor district there are mountains
which is Halimun, Salak, and Gede mountains, so for Gede and pangrango
mountains is located in a several sub-district where one of the district is Ciawi
district where it is the area of our watershed.

Pasal 28 germplasm protected areas it is said that the located of Mekarsari fruit
park is located on Cileungsi sub-district.
Pasal 35 (2) Agricultural Region Wetlands (LB) referred to in paragraph (1)
letter a, a technical irrigated rice paddy fields planned as productive of 14.32%
(area 42789.78 hectares), it was located in several areas in Bogor, like:

Pasal 38 said that the national park is divided into nature tourism, cultural
tourism, and area of special interest, and in pasal 38 (2) Mekarsari fruit park is
located in Cileungsi district.

Pasal 42 Rural areas outside of protected areas work (PD 1), is the region for the
settlement / low density residential services that support trade and industrial
activities based on local raw materials and labor-oriented, it is located in several
areas:

a. Sukaraja sub-district;

c. Babakanmadang sub-district;

d. Cileungsi sub-district;

e. Klapanunggal sub-district;

outside the forest area, which is geared for low to very low occupancy / rare, a

and fisheries, forestry, agro-tourism and tourism) through engineering and
technology as well as buildings that do not have a heavy load on the ground, is
located in several areas:

a. Sukaraja sub-district;

b. Citeureup sub-district;

c. Babakanmadang sub-district;

d. Jonggol sub-district;

e. Sukamakmur sub-district;

f. Cariu sub-district;
