Topic: “ Getting healthier”

Outcomes: The students will listen and comprehend the general idea a conversation about
eating habits. They will identify some words in a reading activity about the same
topic.

Core of the class 15‘ The students will be introduced to the lesson by showing
Pre-stage them some flash cards they have already seen, and some
other new. They will be given a general explanation about
the unit they are about to start. They will be asked about
what they eat, what sports they practice and make a
difference between healthy and unhealthy habits through a
brainstorm. Students will listen a conversation about
healthy eating habits and they will answer a listening
comprehension worksheet. Students will be given the
transcript of the listening in order to check their answers
and assure a better comprehension.

While-stage 25’ Students will read a text about healthy and unhealthy
eating habits. They will identify comparative adjectives
from the text. They will set the comparative adjectives in a
box, were they can distinguish between short and long
adjectives and it will be checked on the board. They will
be given the rules of the adjectives orally and in handouts.

Post-stage 30’ Students will work in pairs and will describe their eating
habits in a short composition following a matrix. They
will compare them with the ones in the text, using as many
adjectives as they can. They will compare their habits
with their classmates in English.

Closing 10’ Students will share their reflections about the previous
exercise and the new unit. They will be given summary of
the class and will ask about the thing they’ve learned.

Tony’s bad habits. Students will use a matrix in which
they will apply the semi auxiliary “should”. This activity
will be assigned with a formative evaluation, and will be
done in pairs

Pre-stage last class through a brainstorm. They will be shown some
flashcards about sick people and different kids of illness
and their treatment. Students will match illness and
treatments and will be checked on the board. Students will
listen a conversation about the flu and will answer some
listening comprehension worksheet.

While-stage 20’ Students will read a text about different kind of illness and
will identify the new words in the text. They will complete
a reading comprehension worksheet which will include
matching exercise, a word search, fill in the gaps and
answering questions.

Post-stage 30’ Students will practice their oral abilities by working in


pairs and talking about illness, the ones they had learned in
the class. They will also talk about their experiences about
the subject. Students will present their dialogues in front
of the class by taking turns.

text carefully, identifying the words they have already
learn.

While-stage 20’ Students will answer reading comprehension questions


related to the text they read previously. They will check
the answers with the rest of the class and will compare
different compositions according to each student still.
Students will be presented the structure of the semi
auxiliary “Should”, and will be compared to the structure
of “Can”.

Post-stage 25’ Students will apply their knowledge by writing a small


paragraph giving advice to the person in the story and
correcting his habits. They will also apply the structure of
second conditional learned in the previous unit. Students
will write at least 200 words, individually, and the writing
will be evaluated in a formative way.

and what kind of food has the different groups. Students
will be given handouts where they have to match the food
with the draw. The exercise will be check on the board.

While-stage 25’ Students will be gathered in groups of two or three people


and they will be given a sheet of paper where they have to
create a healthy menu. The menu will consider breakfast,
lunch and dinner or tea.

Post-stage 20’ Students will continue working on the workshop which


will be evaluated.

medicine. They will see a video about alternative medicine
and will be able to recognize the words they have related in
previous classes. Students will answer some listening
comprehension activities related to the video they have
seen. They will check their answer to the rest of the class.

While-stage 25’ Students will be introduced to a text by presented new


vocabulary in handouts. They will read a text about
complementary medicine and its different types. They will
answer some reading comprehension questions about the
text, which will include true or false, and short and long
answer questions. Students will check their answers with
the rest of the class. They will work in pairs and the
reading comprehension will be evaluated in a formative
way.

Post-stage 20’ Students will practice their writing by answering some


questions about complementary medicine and will practice
them orally in pairs. They will volunteer to show their
answer orally to the class.

While-stage 25’ Students will be given a worksheet with vocabulary about


healthy food and will set it in the food pyramid. They will
correct bad habits of a character in a story they will read,
similar to the one they read during the unit, using the
structure “should”, trying to give an advice. The exercises
will be checked with the entire class, and they will discuss
the correct answer.

Post-stage 20’ Students will set vocabulary about illness and medication
in a short reading they will read. The vocabulary will be
placed in a box and they will choose which one belong to
each gap. They will volunteer to show their answer orally
to the class.

except by their pens to start the test.

While-stage 25’ Students will read a short text about a boy who has bad
habits. Students will correct this boy’s habits by using the
grammar structure should. They will give at least 3 pieces
of advice to the character in the text.

Post-stage 20’ Students will answer the rest of the text which includes
filling the gaps with the parts of the body they have seen
during the unit. They will complete the test with a reading
comprehension text in which they will answer WH
questions.

about a boy who practices different sports and hobbies.
They will classify the sports according to their collocations
and applying the concepts they have learned. Students will

extremes sports.

adjective that describe extreme sports and they will set
them in a box in the right place (comparative and
superlative). Students will fill in the missing adjectives, in
order to complete the box with all the adjectives.
Students will listen a list of adjectives and will recognize
which one the will be written in a handout and which
won’t.

Post-stage 15’ Students will apply their knowledge by comparing normal


sports to extreme sports. They will be given handouts with
two different examples, so they can follow it.
