From the Pastor’s Desk
Last Friday was the first Friday of the month
My Dear People:
All married people need to ask themselves
who is the “Giver” in the marriage. I am
forever preaching at weddings that both must
be the givers since misunderstandings
abound between the sexes. Jesus is forever
telling us to be the servant of others, in short,
the “givers.”
In our relationship with God, it is the Almighty
who is the “giver” by so much distance it
seems we can’t measure it. God not only
“gives” to us but desires a “strong
relationship” with us - an intimacy. In last
Monday’s first reading from Jeremiah there
was this strange command by God showing
God’s relationship with His people. It was an
analogy. God told Jeremiah to buy a new loin
cloth to wear on his loins, indicating
closeness. God later told him to take it and
hide it between rocks, and years later He told
Jeremiah to fetch the loin cloth to discover
how it had rotted. The loin cloth represented
God’s people so close to Him. Being away
from Him for a long time, the people rotted
like the loin cloth. God desires intimacy with
His people graphically indicated by the
closeness of the loin cloth!
Fast forward to New Testament times and we
find the God of INTIMACY, joining Himself to
our human nature in the person of Jesus of
Nazareth. He goes one step further and dies
for our sins. He is indisputably the GIVER in
this relationship and goes another step and
leaves us His presence in the Eucharist so
that we can take Him sacramentally into our
bodies. Ultimate intimacy! In Communion, as
we profess His presence, Body and Blood,
Soul and Divinity, we are reminding
ourselves by “Soul and Divinity” that He
comes to us not only in flesh and blood but
His person comes to us. He desires so much
intimacy with us that we are humbled at the
very thought. To what extent do we desire
INTIMACY with Him? Do we really prepare to
receive Him in the Eucharist? Do we speak
to Him during the day?
and we saw large numbers at the two
Masses. Before the 6:30 a.m. Mass we had a
goodly number for a special devotion of
appreciation of Jesus’ love for us. The
prayers before the Blessed Sacrament in the
Monstrance are great prayers of love and
intimacy. Jesus asked for this devotion on the
First Friday with apparitions to St. Margaret
Mary in the 17th century. The apex of these
appearances was Jesus’ pointing to His heart
and saying:
Behold the heart that has so loved men
and is so little loved in return.
The first person we will see when we leave
this earth is Jesus. What kind of response do
we make to His overtures of love?
Last Sunday, I greeted those coming from
the retirement homes on the Knights of
Columbus bus. They walked with walkers
and canes, anxious to get into church. One
lady, even in her condition said with joy how
thrilled she was to be able to get to Mass.
Then there are those Catholics who stay at
home on Sunday because they would rather
recreate or rest and not make the effort to be
in the sacramental union with Jesus, our
loving Savior, who has done everything for
our salvation.
This past week, I met with a lady who was so
grateful for the Re-membering Program. In
2003 she and her husband, needing this little
push to return to the faith, received it when
Father Deering and his Re-membering team
welcomed and ‘re-membered’ them into the
faith.
Father Deering is always copying from OLS
and now I will take one thing from him. He
joins the R.C.I.A. Class with the Re-
membering Class. We will do that this year
keeping separate those interested in coming
back to the church in the small group
discussions before the lecture. This group
with their “issues” can have them addressed.
With the lectures they will receive a full
review of the Catholic faith they once Altar Sodality Board meeting has been

Columbarium Update:
Just a reminder that if you are interested in a
niche in the columbarium, please come by the
church office or call. There is a $200.00 a month
payment plan with the cost being $2200.00. So
far 60 niches have been purchased. No niche
can be reserved until the complete payment is
made.
Columbarium Committee
We thank you for participating in our Spiritual
Adoption Program, which we started in our
church nine months ago. We hope that the
prayer cards with the month-by-month
development of your baby have been helpful to
you. Your baby is truly a miracle, a unique little
person. Never before in history, nor ever again,
will anyone exist who is just like your spiritually
adopted baby. Your prayers saved this baby’s
life. Thank you for caring so much. Please keep
your baby and his/her parents in your prayers a
little longer.
