Autoimmune Disease
• Occurs when the Immune System begins to
attack the body tissues “with the blessing”
of the CNS.
• Many researchers believe it is associated
with chronic infection, chronic allergies or
presence of toxins confusing our DNA
expression.
• Stealth pathogens can invade the inner cell
space leading the immune system to identify
the cell as problematic and then destroying
the cell and like tissues.

HOLLY HOUSE Center for Integrated HealthCare 39

Autoimmune Disease cont…
• The presence of toxins confuses cell
physiology with ensuing immune cell attack
• Autoimmune Disease is on the rise.
• Caseine and Gluten Sensitivity have been
linked with increased incidence of
autoimmune disease.
• 43% of US population has the gene for
gluten sensitization.
• All those with osteoporosis should be
screened for Celiac Disease.

HOLLY HOUSE Center for Integrated HealthCare 40

Gut permeability can lead to
exposure of gut-derived food and
microbial antigens leading to
allergies, and in turn,
Increased Intestinal
autoantibodies. Permeability leads to

The Importance of Iodine
• The primordial sea – Iodine was everywhere

• Gradual leaching of Iodine from the soil

• Mountainous areas plus Midwest low

Iodine – Goiters and Cretinism (High
occurrence in the Alps).

• Switzerland adds Iodine to salt – 1920’s

• Today - Due to low salt recommendations

and some of us avoiding commercial salts -
inadequate Iodine intake.
