THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction

Internet allows wide range of materials to be accessed by people across the

globe irrespective of their location.Internet is an information resource

medium that allow access to a wide range materials from around the world

to local machine.Internet help the students by using their mobile phones to

help them on their studies.Nowadays internet is very useful in our

generation especially to the students,because on click away you can get

your information you want.The internet may also used for essential

advancing research in any purposes as well as in maintaining global and

surveillance.It is also a publisihing medium which allows access to large

pool of information which was not possible in the past,thereby reducing the

information gap between the students in developed and developing

countries.The internet is also a user friendly you can use it easily and no

time limitations.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

The research will lend its importance to students, teacher, school,

community, and future researchers.

Students. This study may help teachers identify the usage of internet on

academics and how to motivate the students.

Teachers. This study may help learners to help them to figure out their

weaknesses in some areas in the field.

School. The result of the study give the facility quality is an important

predictor of teacher retention and student learning.

Community. The findings may lead to a change of one of the most

productive but least used approaches to the archaeological study of the

past.

Future Researchers. This study would help the student researchers to be

aware and knowledgeable of the processes involved in the round rag

making industry. It would help them to be a better analyst and it can be a

help as a future reference for more studies in the future.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The study aimed to assess Internet usage and students academic

performance in Eastern Bacoor National Highschool S.Y 2019-2020.

Specifically, the study seeks to answer the following problems:

1.To determine students’ attitude on internet usage in relation to

their academic performance

2.To assess the contribution of internet services towards students’

academic performance in the study area.

3.To assess the accessibility of internet services among students

in the study area.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

Internet-The internet is a global wide area network that connects

computer systems across the world.It includes several high-bandwidth

data lines that comprise the internet “backbone.” These lines are

connected to major internet hubs that distribute data to other

locations,such as web servers and ISPs.

Academic -academic is something or someone that is considered to be

scholarly.An example of academic is what a teacher would write on the

report card of a student who gets all A’s.Academic is defined as a question

that can’t be definitely answered but that people like to think about and

discuss anyway.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION OF THE STUDY

The researcher will only focus on conductiong survey to get the internet

usage to the academic performance in Eastern Bacoor National Highschool

SY.2019-2020.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES

In the website of west allegheny school district, homework is a time

honored practice that can enhance the development of skills and reinforce

knowledge gained within the classroom when it is used effectively and

appropriately. It is a natural extension of the curricular programs because

it is an integral component of instruction. It can also serve as a vital link

between the school and family. Investigating the issues surrounding

homework policies and procedures is a beneficial, essential exercise to

promote the development of meaningful, consistent assignments and time

guidelines.

Benefits of Homework

Homework is an integral part of instructional programs and life-long

learning experiences. For a new skill to become automatic or for new

knowledge to become long- lasting, distributed and sustained practice is

necessary. (Willingham 2002, 2004; Marzano, 2001). Homework provides

reinforcement, practice, application, transference, and enrichment of what

is taught in class and requires students to integrate skills included in

curricula. It also prepares students for meaningful class participation and

fosters a closer home-school connection and ongoing parental involvement

in the student’s education. As children complete their assignments, they

become more invested in and responsible for their learning. Homework

places demands on students that help them to develop mental skills such

as concentrating, following directions, organizing materials, solving

problems, and working independently. It offers a way for students to

develop a sense of competency and independence. The most helpful

homework assignments are carefully planned by teachers and have direct

meaning to students. Perks in giving seatwork According to the website of

without feeling the need to have immediate teacher facilitation and

guidance. Seatwork gives students time to practice and develop skills such

as using the dictionary, checking their work, and pacing themselves.

Perks of hands-on learning

The Benefits of Hands-on Learning Apple tree kindergarten said,

Hands-on learning is the process of learning by actually doing and

experiencing something, rather than just being told about it. The term

“hands-on” is used because these activities usually involve the physical use

of the hands – for example children might use manipulative such as

counting cubes and sorting objects to understand mathematical concepts,

rather than just being taught the theory via books or pencil and paper

exercises.

As the synthesis, many filipinos does not know about the perks of the

enrichment activities. They think that this activity make the students life

harder. Giving enrichment activities could give benefits in their study habits.

This research will make them realize that this activity is a motivation and it

enhance your mind and skills as per Marina Cary, Springboard Operations

Specialist, Academic Benefits: Enrichments can be considered unnecessary

to academic success because they often focus on entertaining subjects, but

research shows that they have positive effects on students. Arts education

helps children of all ages

learn skills related to the four core subjects: math, science, language arts,

and social studies. (For example, there is a strong correlation between

music education and math skills.) In addition, children who participate in

arts classes and in sports have better test scores and grade point averages

than those who do not. These activities promote critical thinking and

problem-solving skills by encouraging children to think outside the box.

Social-Emotional Benefits: Enrichment activities also allow children to

navigate group environments and build social skills. Studies show that

participation in enrichments boosts self-confidence and self-esteem, helping

children overcome any fear or uncertainty they might feel over time.2017

As stated by ellie jones 2016, Enrichment programmes are a popular

platform for schools to engage their pupils in the wider community and

teach important life-skills. Ellie Jones shares her insights on best

practice.The purpose of enrichment is to provide extended learning

prospects – it gives students the opportunity to study concepts with greater

depth, breadth and complexity, while also helping students to pursue their

RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY

This chapter involves the method and techniques used population and

sample of the study, instruments of the study, data gathering procedure

and data processing and statistical treatment of the research.

METHODS AND TECHNIQUES USED

The research is a qualitative correlational research. Baraceros (2016)

defined correlation research as a type of research that shows relationships

or connectedness of two factors, circumstances, or agents called variables

that affect the research.

POPULATION AND SAMPLE OF THE STUDY

Thirty grade 10 pupils were selected as the main participants in the study.

The subjects were chosen based on how the researcher are close to them

; hence, the purposive sampling was used.

INSTRUMENT OF THE STUDY

This study was concerned on the perks in giving enrichment activities to the

study habits of EBNHS students. A questionnaire was administered for the

purpose of determining their views on the impact of conversational English

course in their oral communication skills.

Questionnaire

To accomplish the goals of the study, the researcher-made questionnaire

was used. Instructions on how the respondents would answer were

provided.

Construction. With the intention to construct valid questionnaire, the

researchers read books, published and unpublished masters’ theses, online

articles and educational journals associated to the research. The

collaborated ideas obtained from the sources became the bases for the

formulation of the items in the said questionnaire.

Validation. The researchers requested the respected and qualified

educators in eastern Bacoor national high school, Mr. Gay T. Trongco to

evaluate and validate the questionnaire to make sure that it would provide

valid and reliable result of the study. Their comments and suggestions were

incorporated in the final questionnaire.

Administration. The questionnaire was administered to grade ten

students of Eastern bacoor national high school after the permission had

been sought from the school’s officer-in-charge . The questionnaire was

administered by the researchers themselves. Thus, following the steps was

followed

DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

A letter asking for permission to carry out the experiment addressed

to the teacher of eastern Bacoor national high school was approved.

Before Experimentation:

Before the experiment, the respondents were given orientation on

the procedure of the research.

Experimental Phase:

The selected group of participants was given enough time to answer

the survey questions.

After Experimentation:

The answers to the questionnaire were tabulated by the researchers

by getting the total of scores in each question.

DATA PROCESSING AND STATISTICAL TREATMENT

This part presents the statistical treatment utilized to calculate the

data gathered by the researchers.

Percentage. The percentage was used to gauge the data in the profile of

the respondents and the perks in guving enrichment activities to the study

habits of selected grade 10 students. The formula is:

Chi-square. This was used to measure the significant relationship

between the the perks in guving enrichment activities to the study habits

of selected grade 10 students and the profile of the respondents. The
