ENGINEERING DRAWING
Drawing:
“Drawing is a graphic language used by
engineers, technicians and marketing person for
communication involved in industry and business.”
TYPES OF DRAWING:
Drawings are of two
types,
(1)Projection Drawings; orthography, 2D
(2)Perspective Drawings, 3D

Types of line

Visible line

Visible line unbroken thick and black


It is mostly used for outline of object
Hidden line

Hidden line broken and dash line .It cannot see when
u look at the object

Centre line

Centre lines are drawn to indicate center points of circle


and other round object

Dimension lines
These lines are used whit the figure having arrow heads
to show size of object and length

Pencils:
Pencils of different degrees of hardness or
grades are available in the market. The hardness
increased as the value of the numerical before the letter
H increases. The lead becomes softer as the value before
the numerical H increases.

The selection of pencil depends upon the line quality


desired for the drawing. Pencils of grades H or 2H may be
used for finishing a pencil drawing as these lines give a
sharp black line. Softer grade used for sketching work. HB
grade is recommended for Lettering and Dimensioning.

Pencil and use of pencils:


The accuracy and appearance
of a drawing depends on the quality of pencil used to
make drawing. The grade of a pencil lead is marked on
the pencil.
(1)B for bright
(2)H for hardness
(3)HB for hardness and brightness
HB Soft grade for Border lines, visible edges and free
sketching Increase in hardness. It is used for panel and
outlines.

Increase in hardness is shown by value put in front of H


such as 2H, 3H etc.
HB pencil
HB pencil is mostly used for panel in drawing
sheets
It is also used for outline of object and boarder lines .it
is very soft

H pencil

H pencil is very thick and hard as compare to HB


pencil .It is visible and used in penal work

2H Pencil
2H pencil is hard as compare to H pencil it is very thick it
used in central lines and hidden line
3H pencil

It is very dark and hard used in dimension lines


In the drawing
4H pencil

It very dark then h, 2h, 3h and hard in pencil series
