JUSTINE: [Sits down] So, what am I going to do today, Doc?
MJ: You need to undergo a CT Scan and a Prostate-Specific Antigen Test. Both will help us
determine how well your body is responding to your chemotherapy sessions. I’ll let the nurse

MJ: Good morning, Doctora de Jesus. Are you busy right now?

of our patients.
ERICA: Good morning po, Doc Martinez.

MJ: Please take a sit and make yourself comfortable.
JUSTINE: Thank you, Doc.
MJ: Before anything else, I would just like to know how you are perceiving the current situation.
How much do you know about the disease that you have?
JUSTINE: Doc, I know for a fact that my chances of living is 50/50, and that my chances of being
cured is not guaranteed by the chemotherapy that I am undergoing. But somehow, I feel like
the chemotherapy is working because I feel a bit of improvement. May I know my results, Doc?
MJ: Do you want me to tell you the details of the diagnosis?
JUSTINE: Yes, Please. I would like to know everything.
MJ: Mr. Viceral, as per your results, the cancer cells have already spread to your body. [Pauses
and assesses the patient’s affect] We have tried several sessions of chemotherapy, but it looks
like your body has not been responding well.
JUSTINE: Doc, w-what does that mean? Am I gonna die soon?
MJ: I’m very sorry to say this, but your tumor has progressed to an incurable stage.
JUSTINE: [Pauses for a while and tries to understand everything] Doc, how …how long do I have
left?
MJ: Based on your results, approximately 6 months.
JUSTINE: [Stays quiet but looks shocked and depressed]
