Your Learning Plan
1. What is your learning goal for these ~3 weeks?
During the next three weeks, I am hoping to complete my circuit and begin moving on to a larger turbine
and start building it. I would love to finally be able to charge a battery and my circuit not constantly
failing. Once I charge a battery and have trust in my circuit, I can then move to making a larger wind
turbine that can be useful and contribute energy.

2. What final project do you hope to create (should tentatively take ~1½ weeks to plan and complete).
I would like to have a completed circuit. My overall final project is a large wind turbine. Hopefully the
wind turbine will be as tall as me. That is my definition of large and practical, as of right now.

3. What you need to learn in order to create this project and meet this learning goal. These fall into
three categories:
a. Procedural skills to master
I need to understand more about what could go wrong in a bread board/circuit. It is important
to know where the problem might be before starting over. This knowledge gives me more
understanding to how to FIX problems

b. Conceptual understandings to learn

I need to learn about how voltages are multiplied, not only with a circuit but by using a larger
motor and larger wind turbine. It is currently difficult for me to understand how we will create
this on a larger scale because we may need to shift the resistor values.

c. Knowledge to gain
I need to learn how to build a larger wind turbine. It is important to know how to create specific
types of blades or the wiring to a circuit. A wind turbine has many complex components and I
need to make sure I am confident in my knowledge with each aspect

4. What steps can we take in order to learn these? (~1½ weeks)

There are many people/families that use wind turbines to power their whole life. It can be important for
me to look at their blogs and see how they created their wind turbines. Our budget and commitment
are a little less because they are depending on that for most of their daily activities. But, on the blogs I
have found, they show pictures and describe how they shaped blades, wired pipes, and created a sturdy
base for the turbine. On many of the blogs, they also describe the science behind how energy is created
when a motor is spun. Overall, I think after finishing the circuit, research is the next huge step to
learning what I will do next.

5. How will you know when you have learned these learning goal categories?
My project will be almost completed, and I will begin moving quickly and building. I also am showing my
progress of my research and project on my portfolio.
