APPENDIX 7 INSTALLATION
7.1 Installation Preparation

7.1.1 Check Before Installation


XS-1000i consists of XS main unit, XS-IPU, XS Supplied Parts and Sampler Unit. Before installation,
confirm that all the components are contained.

Ambient Temperature: 15 to 30 °C
Relative Humidity: 45 to 85%
If ambient temperature and relative humidity are not within the range, air-conditioning should be applied.
Avoid installation in a place where the instrument may be in extremely high or low temperature.
Avoid installation in a place where the instrument may be exposed to direct sunlight.
Install in a well-ventilated place.
Avoid installation in a place where instrument may be exposed to radio interference such as personal
computer, centrifuge separator, wireless radios and communication facility.

Use 3P plug for each power cable.


If the outlet is without grounding, use adapter plug and connect to ground.

7.1.2 Installation Space
To secure the space required for maintenance, install the IPU on the right side of the XS main unit.
Provide a distance of at least 50cm behind the instrument.

7.2 IPU Installation

7.2.1 Windows Setup


(1) When below screen (personalize your software) appears, enter appropriate names.

(2) When below screen (product key) appears, enter appropriate values.

(3) When below screen (computer name and administrator password) appears, enter “IPU” in the
name and nothing in the password.

(4) When below screen (computer domain) appears, select “No”.

7.2.2 Registering Sysmex Account
(1) Select control panel.

(2) Select User Accounts.

(3) Select Create a new account.

(4) When below screen appears, enter “sysmex” and click Next.

(5) When below screen appears, select computer administrator and click Create Account.

(6) When below screen appears, select sysmex as an account to change.

0” in the “Type the new password again to confirm”. Click Create Password.

7.2.3 Security Setting
(1) Select Security Center in the Control Panel.

(2) When below screen appears, click “Change the way Security Center alerts me”.

(3) When below screen appears, unmark all three items and click OK.

(4) When below screen appears, click Automatic Updates.

7.2.4 Performance Setting
(1) Select Performance and Maintenance.

(2) When below screen appears, select Power Options.

7.2.5 Appearance Setting
(1) Select appearance and Theme.

(2) When below screen appears, select Taskbar and Start Menu.

(3) When below screen appears, mark Auto-hide the taskbar and unmark Hide inactive icons.
Click OK.

(4) In the below screen, click Display.

(5) When below screen appears, select Windows XP in the Theme. Select Setting tab.

(6) When below screen appears, change the Screen resolution to 1024 by 768 and Highest (32
bit) in the Color quality. Click OK.

7.2.6 IP Address Setting
(1) Click back at the toolbar in the Appearance and Theme.

When the screen was closed, select start  Control Panel.

(2) Click Network and Internet Connections.

(4) When below screen appears, right-click Local Area Connection and select properties.

(5) When below screen appears, select Show icon in notification area when connected. Double-
click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) or click Double-click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click prop-
erties.

(6) When below screen appears, select Use the following IP address. Enter 192.168.28.150 in the
IP address. Enter 255.255.255.0 in the subnet mask. Click OK.

(7) Close Local Area Connection Properties by clicking OK.


(8) Click X in upper right to closed network connections.

7.3 XS-IPU Program Installation

NOTE:
This installation must be performed after logon to windows as “Sysmex” and password as
“c9.0”.
When IPU program is running, quit the IPU program by selecting file ( Exit. When confirmation
screen appears, click OK.

(1) Set the XS CD-ROM onto the CD-ROM drive.


(2) Contents of the CD appears. When it does not appear, select Start
( My Computer and double-click the CD-ROM icon.)
(3) Double-click the Setup icon.
When below screen appears, click Install/Version Up.

(5) When below screen appears, click Install.

(6) When below screen appears, click Yes.

(7) Installation starts. If below screen appears, click OK.

(8) When below screen appears, click OK.

(9) When below screen appears, select XS-1000i or XS-800i according to the instrument to be
setup. Enter instrument ID to be installed. When sampler is connected, mark Sampler Option.
Click OK.

(10) When below screen appears, click OK.

(11) When below screen appears, confirm that “Installation has Completed” is displayed and click
Close.

7.4 Main unit Installation
(1) Remove fixing tape and transportation tape.

(2) Turn the lock to CCW and open the right side cover.

(3) Remove the clip which fasten the belt. Remove fixing tape for Protection Cover No.174.

(4) Connect tubing for reagent as follows.


NOTE: Tubing for CELLPACK must be within 2 meters.

(5) Close main unit right side cover.


(6) Connect power cord for the main unit.
(7) Connect the main unit and PC using LAN cable (cross).
(8) Turn on the PC when it is off. Select Exit when IPU program starts.
(9) Select Start  Shut Down  Log off XS.
(10) Log on to Windows with User name: sysmex and Password: “c”, “9”, “.”, “0”.
(11) Select Exit when IPU program starts. Set the provided XS program CD-ROM onto CD-ROM
drive.
(12) Start ID Changer in the CD-ROM\TOOLS\ID Changer.

(13) When below screen appears, select XS-1000i/XS-800i, enter S/N in the New ID (instrument S/
N) and select Sampler Option.

(14) Remove CD-ROM from the CD-ROM drive. Run IPU program by selecting Start  All Pro-
grams  Startup IPU. Log off IPU and log on IPU with User name: sysmex and Password:
“c”, “9”, “.”, “0”.
(15) Turn on main unit and select option as shown when below screen appears.

(16) When main unit indicator located lower left become green, run Setting sequence by selecting
Controller  Service  Setting Sequence. It takes approximately 24 minutes.

(17) When Setting Sequence runs, pointer becomes hourglass other menu could not be selected.
When Setting Sequence completes, the hourglass becomes normal pointer.

(18) Set the Calibration CD-ROM onto CD-ROM drive.

(19) Copy XS-1000i^XXXXX.CAL (XXXXX stands for S/N) in the CD-ROM onto C:\Program
Files\Sysmex\IPU\ORG_INI\XS-1000i^XXXXX.CAL with overwriting it.
(20) Restart the IPU program and run e-CHECK to confirm the data is within the assay value sheet.

7.5 GP/LP Printer Installation and Setting

7.5.1 GP Installation Procedure


NOTE: On XT-Series instruments, the GP can be also used as the LP by the initial setting.
Only when the LP is used as a stand-alone, perform LP setting.

(1) Log-on to the Windows as an administrator.


(2) Install the printer driver by following the instruction attached to the printer.
(3) Select Start  Settings  Control Panel  Printers.
(4) When below screen appears, right-click the printer driver icon and select properties.

(5) When below window appears,
(5-1) Change the printer name to “GP PRINTER.”
(5-2) Click OK.

(6) When below window appears,


(6-1) Confirm that the name is GP PRINTER.
(6-2) Click X button to close the window.

(7) Restart the IPU computer.

7.5.2 LP Installation Procedure


(1) Log-on to the Windows as an administrator.
(2) Install the LP referring to the GP Installation Procedure.
(3) Name the printer as “LP PRINTER.”
(4) Open the PRINTDEF.INI file in the C:\Program
Files\Sysmex\IPU folder by notepad.
(5) When below window appears,
(5-1) Change the GP PRINTER at the “Ledger Print” to LP Printer as shown.
(5-2) Save the file by overwriting it.

(6) Restart the IPU computer.

7.6 XS-IPU Uninstallation (as needed)

NOTE:
This uninstallation must be performed after logon to windows as “Sysmex”
and password as “c9.0”.
When IPU program is running, quit the IPU program by selecting file  Exit.
When confirmation screen appears, click OK.
When uninstalltion is performed, all files including setting files will be deleted.

(1) Set the XS CD-ROM onto the CD-ROM drive.


(2) Contents of the CD appears. When it does not appear, select Start
 My Computer and double-click the CD-ROM icon.)
(3) Double-click the Setup icon.
(4) When below screen appears, click uninstall.

(5) When below screen appears, click Execute. (When Database is needed to be deleted, mark
Remove Database Files.)

NOTE:
When Database is deleted, all information such as stored data and history
will be deleted.

7.7 Sampler Installation
(1) Remove fixing tapes from the sampler cover.

(2) Detach “Position Setting Data” sheet from the inside of the sampler.
(The sheet will be used in B.8 Sampler Adjustment at Installation.)

(3) Remove Trasport Fixing Metal No. 49.

(4) Remove fixing tape securing catcher unit.

(5) Remove two clips securing belts.

(6) Remove Trasport Fixing Metal No.47.

(7) Remove fixing tape as shown below.

(8) Unlock right side cover lock with a slot head screwdriver.
(9) Remove upper cover by loosening two fixing screws (M3X6).

(10) Remove left side cover by loosening three fixing screws (M3X6)

(11) Remove front cover by loosening two fixing screws on the right and three fixing screws on the
left.
(12) Disconnect wiring cord on the innner of the front cover.

(13) Leave the wiring cord attached to the XS Main Unit Front Cover.
(The wiring cord does not need to remove from the XS front cover. Store them in case of sampler
deinstallation.)

(14) Pull Sample Set Unit Cover toward you.

(15) Remove Sample Set Unit Cover by removing two fixing screws
(Screw P-Tight M 3 X 6 (SUS)) and retract the Sampler Set Unit into the main unit. (Discard the
two fixing screws.)

(16) Place the OPSU-11 Base Assy for connecting XS-1000i main unit and sampler.

(17) Place XS-1000i main unit onto the base by inserting rubber feet into the holes. When XS-1000i
main unit is placed correctly, the positioning pins are in correct position.

(18) Cut the tie wrap securing wiring cords.

(19) Remove dummy cover from the hydraulic connector.

(20) Place sampler onto the base as shown below.

(21) Connect six wiring cords.

(22) Connect one hydraulic connector.

(23) Place wiring cords to your left so that the wiring cords will not be caught between main unit and
sampler. Place the sampler so that the positioning pins into the holes in the sampler.

(24) Open sampler cover and fix the three fixing screws (M4)

(25) Fix the two fixing screws (M3X6: 348-3812-1) onto the sampler right side.

(26) Affix main unit chassis and OPSU-11 Base Assy with screw M4X6 (348-3926-8)

(27) Attach left side cover by tightening screws.

(28) Attach clear cushion onto upper cover as shown below.

(30) Attach OPSU-11 Sample Set Unit Cover (322-3919-7) with screws M3X4 (348-3911-2).

7.8 Sampler Adjustment at Installation
(1) Select Start  All Programs  Startup  IPU to start IPU program. Logoff IPU program and
logon with logon name “sysmex” and password “C 9 . 0”.
(2) Turn on the main unit and start up option screen appears. Set options as follows.

(3) Select Controller  Service  Hand Adjustment  Pulse Entry and enter values on Position
Setting Data removed in step B7 (2).

(4) Select Controller  Service  Tube Holder Adjustment  Pulse Entry and enter values and
enter values on Position Setting Data.

1. Click “Start” - “Control Panel” on Windows

5. When “Local Security Policy” appears, click “Local Policies” - “Security Options” on the left, then
double-click “Accounts: Administrator account status” on the right.

6. When “Accounts: Administrator account status properties” appears, tick [Enable] and click “OK.”

click [Interactive logon: Do not display last user name” on the right.

26. When “Turn off Program Compatibility Assistant” appears, tick “Enable” and click “OK.”

27. Close all opened windows.


28. Click “Start” - “Restart” to restart the computer.

7.9.1.3 Changing Power Supply Setting
1. Click “Start” - Control panel” on Window.
2. When “Control Panel” appears, click “Hardware and Sound.”

3. When “Hardware and Sound” appears, click “Power Options.”

4. When “Power Options” appears, click “Choose when to turn off the display” on the left.

5. When “Edit Plan Settings” appears, Change “Turn off the display” and “Put the computer to
sleep” to “Never”, then click “Change advanced power setting.”

a. Select “Hard disk” - “Turn off hard disk after”, change “Setting (Minutes)” to “Never.”
b. Select “Power buttons and lid” - “Power button action”, change “Setting” to “Do nothing.”

1. Click “Start” - “Log off” on Windows to log off.
2. When logon screen appears, logon Windows with sysmex user.
3. Right-click on the task bar, then click “Properties.”

4. When “Task bar and Start Menu Properties” appears, click “Task bar” tab, and tick “Auto-hide the
task bar.”

5. Right-click on desktop, click “Personalize.”

6. When “Personalization” appears, change to “Basic and High Contrast Themes” - “Windows

7.9.1.5 Screen Setting and Displaying the Extensions
1. Right-click on desktop, click “Screen Resolution.”

2. When “Screen Resolution “appears, change “Resolution” to “1024 x 768”, then click OK.

7.9.1.6 IP Address Setting
* Setting IP address against the LAN card connecting to the analyzer.
1. Select “Start” - “Computer” to display Explorer screen.
2. When “Computer“appears, right-click on the “Network” icon, then select “Properties.”

3. When “Network Connections” appears, right-click on the “Local Area Connection” of the network
adapter connecting an analyzer, then click “Properties.”

4. When “User Account Control” appears, click “Continue” button.


5. When “Local Area Connection Properties” appears, confirm that the network adapter name for
connecting the analyzer is displayed in “Connect Using.”

6. Untick “Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)” in “Local Area Connection Properties”, click
“Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” then click “Properties.”

7. When “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties” appears,


a. Tick “Use the following IP address.”
b. Put “192.168.28.150” in “IP address.”
c. Put “255.255.255.0” in “Sub net mask”
d. Leave “Default gateway” blank.
e. Click “OK.”

4. When “Region and Language “appears, click “Administrative” tab, then click “Change system
locale...” button.

“Users” (Confirm that enabling to automatically logon with XS user)
5. Click “Process” tab and confirm “IPU.exe” and “Qremoteprt.exe” exist in “Image Name” (Confirm
they are registered in start-up menu)
6. Close “Windows Task Manager” after confirmation.

2. Installation Procedure
1) Turn OFF the Main Unit.
2) Remove the relevant covers (Top/ Right and back/Left)
3) Make an opening in the grommet and pass the sensor wiring cord (black & white twist) through the
opening. Mount the grommet on the P1 port as shown below.

Original grommet has no opening. Make an opening at the center of original grommet.

4) Insert the pins (at the free ends of sensor wiring cord) into the supplied connector. Do not worry
about the pin assignments.
Ensure that the pins are inserted in the connector after step 3). Otherwise the pins are not
disconnected from the connector, and the connector does not pass through the P1 port.

5) Find the wiring cord marked with "F4". Connect the connector prepared at step 4).

6) Turn ON the Main Unit.
7) Move the sensor float switch up (ON) manually and verify that “Replace Waste Container” error is
reported. Move the float switch down (OFF) and verify that the error is cleared.
8) Place the supplied Float Switch Supporting Plate onto an empty reagent container.

9) Set the sensor assembly on the container.

10) Connect between the sensor assembly nipple and the drain outlet nipple on the XS Main Unit rear
panel using the supplied polyurethane tube (9 mm OD x 6 mm ID). Cut the tube to the appropriate
length as needed.

11) Bind the sensor wiring cord to the appropriate length.


12) Turn OFF the Main Unit again.
13) Mount the relevant covers. (Top/ Right and back/Left)
14) Turn ON the Main Unit.
