Tweaking Govt Subvention to Ensure
Competitiveness
To inform the public on the cost of hospitalisation and to allow them “shop around”,
MOH publishes monthly hospital bill size statistics on its website. The effort has, for
example, led to greater price competition among clinics performing lasik operation.
However, for most other procedures, patients tend to go for higher-cost providers
even when competent lower-cost providers are available.
