Laboratory Exercise
Model Recreation and Analyzation
Objectives:

At the end of the exercise, the students should be able to:

 Dissect the concepts incorporated in different enterprise architecture layers; and


 Analyze the effectivity of applying different layer concepts to enterprise architecture.

Materials:

 Microsoft Word
 Latest version of Archi
 Web browser
 Internet connection

Instructions:

1. Create a new document in Microsoft Word with the name format 04LAB_LastName_FirstName (ex.
04LAB_Reyes_Mika). This will serve as your answer sheet and will be collected by your instructor.
2. Launch Archi and recreate the example of a business layer model below. Make sure to follow the
indicated elements (terms in red) used.

3. After recreating the model, export your work as an image. Paste the image on your answer sheet.
4. In more than five (5) sentences, explain the concept of the business layer model you have recreated.

• If you were asked to connect an application layer to the design above, on what specific business
element would you connect it? Why?
• If you were asked to connect a technology layer to the design above, on what specific business
element would you connect it? Why?
• If you were asked to design the application layer of an insurance company, what particular data
objects would you specify? Give at least one (1) and rationalize your answer.
• Give one (1) possible advantage of separately designing each enterprise architecture layer.
Rationalize your answer.
• In your opinion, what is the importance of knowing the appropriate elements in designing an
enterprise architecture layer?
6. Submit your answer sheet to the instructor.
