Introduction
• VA Standards of Learning:
SIV.1 The student will exchange information orally and in writing in Spanish on a variety of topics
related to contemporary and historical events and issues.
1. Express and support opinions, and elicit those of others.
2. Exchange personal reactions to spoken and written information related to Spanish-
speaking cultures.
SIV.2 The student will demonstrate skills necessary to sustain extended oral and written exchanges in
Spanish.
1. Use a full range of vocabulary, structures, and past, present, and future time frames.
2. Exchange ideas clearly, based on level-appropriate material.
3. Use paraphrasing, circumlocution, and other creative means to express and comprehend
ideas.
SIV.3 The student will comprehend spoken and written Spanish found in a variety of authentic sources.
1. Understand subtleties of meaning, such as intent, humor, and tone, in a variety of
culturally authentic materials, such as radio and television segments or literary passages.
Cognitive Objectives
• Students will discuss in Spanish the first lesson of “Showtime Spanish” from Coffee
Break Spanish

• The teacher explain to the students the activity for the day
• The teacher will pass out a worksheet of Spanish vocabulary that will be used in the
listening activity
• The teacher will introduce the content of Lesson One of Showtime Spanish
· Lesson Development –
• The teacher will play the podcast of Lesson One of Showtime Spanish
• The students will take notes regarding what they hear in the podcast
• The students will individually answer questions on the worksheet relating to the podcast
• The teacher will ask the students if they had any trouble understanding any of the podcast
• The students will discuss in their groups (in Spanish) their answers to the worksheet that
· Closure – 10 Minutes
• The teacher will call on representatives from the groups to answer out loud various
• The teacher will ask the students if they have any questions regarding today’s lesson

• No homework is assigned.

Assessment
• Formative –
• The teacher will ask the students if they comprehend the podcast
• The teacher will answer any questions the students may have regarding the podcast
and worksheet
• The teacher will pause and repeat portions of the podcast if a majority of the students
• Summative –
• The teacher will grade the worksheets that follow along with the podcast of Lesson
