I INTRODUCTION

The project Continental’s Bar POS & Inventory System is a complete

desktop based application designed on .Net technology using Visual Studio
Software. The main aim of the project is to develop POS & Inventory System
Model software in which all the information regarding the product will be
presented. It is an intranet-based desktop application which has admin
component to manage the sales & inventory and maintenance of the system.

II. Company Background

Inspired by the movie John Wick, Continental is the first of its kind here in the
Philippines which is only open for professionals. The entire experience from
wandering down a hidden bar to find the entrance, to tasting the first sip of a
special drink around the world – is a privilege.

At Continental they also offer a specialty cocktail made with exotic herbs and
fruits. The presentation of a cocktail is just dramatic as the cocktail itself. The
bar is no longer a bar. It’s a stage. A chemistry lab. A theatre. A unique-shaped
crystal glass is carefully selected for each cocktail, and into it, is poured a
beautiful, jewel-colored liquid. This is much more than a cocktail – this is a
cocktail continental.

IV. Current Issues (Problems)

● Expensiveness/Costly and Maintenance

○ Paying for Php 20,000 per year is a big impact on the profit of the

company, that doesn’t cover maintenance, upgrades and other

system malfunctions that may happen, e.g of the ff.

● Database handling staff required

● Database Failure

● High Hardware Cost

● Huge Size

● Upgradation Costs

customer obtains it. Implementing the CP-IBM can

help an organization reduce labor costs, improve

inventory accuracy, improve flexibility and

responsiveness, decrease errors in picking and

shipping goods. Modern Inventory management

systems operate with real-time data, allowing the

organization to manage the most current information

on activities like orders, shipments, receipts and any

movement of goods.

○ Objectives

■ To organized and customized depending on the

product in the demand. which enables the company

to customize workflow and picking logic to make sure

that the warehouse is designed for optimized

inventory allocation. The SC-WMS establishes bin

● Pros/Advantages

○ Automated Reordering and In-Stock Information

■ Computerized inventory informs employees and customers
within seconds whether an item is in stock.

○ Forecasting and Planning

■ Review trends regarding which products do well in certain
months or during specific cyclical seasons. Can use this data
to plan for growth and order inventory intelligently to best
utilize cash flow resources.
○ The Use of Cloud Database
■ Cloud databases reside on the Internet instead of within
the organization’s own network infrastructure. This can
reduce costs because the organization is not required to
purchase and maintain the hardware and software
necessary to house the database and support the necessary
levels of system performance

○ Structural Independence
■ Structural independence exists when data access programs
are not subject to change when the file's structural
characteristics, such as the number or order of the columns
in a table change. Structural independence is important
because it substantially decreases programming effort and
program maintenance costs.

● Cons/Disadvantages
○ System Crash
■ One of the biggest problems with any computerized system
is the potential for a system crash. A corrupt hard drive,
power outages and other technical issues can result in the
loss of needed data.
○ Reduced Physical Audits
■ When everything is automated, it is easy to forego time-
consuming physical inventory audits. They may no longer
seem necessary when the computers are doing their work.
However, it is important to continue to do regular audits to
identify loss such as spoilage or breakage. Audits also help
business owners identify potential internal theft and
manipulation of the computerized inventory system.

VI. Requirement Specification

● Hardware Specifications
○ The deployment approach will dictate the bulk of the hardware
costs. The two main choices are either on premise or hosted. If
you choose on premise then you will need to cater for all of the
server, infrastructure and third party licensing. If you choose
hosting your costs will be the recurring hosting fees and ensuring
that you have sufficient bandwidth to ensure that the operation
can run seamlessly.
