fit-PC Slim Quick Start Guide

x AC cord with North American standard plug
x WiFi antenna (some models)

You may need additionally:


x Display with VGA input
x USB keyboard and mouse
x AC cord (“kettle lead”) for your country or an adapter to a North American plug
x Active PC Speakers with 3.5” plug

Connecting fit-PC Booting from CDROM


x Turn off the display and connect it to the VGA x Connect USB CDROM to any USB port of fit-PC Slim
connector x Enter BIOS Setup
x Connect the USB keyboard and mouse to USB x Select Basic CMOS Configuration
connectors x Set Boot 1st: CDROM
x Plug the speakers to line-out jack x Press ESC
x Plug Ethernet cable into Ethernet connector x Select Write to CMOS and Exit
x Mount WiFi Antenna on SMA connector by turning
clockwise repeatedly until the antenna holds firm
Booting from internal hard disk
x Connect power supply to AC cord and plug cord into
AC outlet. Plug DC plug into fit-PC DC in jack x Enter BIOS Setup
x Select Basic CMOS Configuration
Booting Linux x Set Boot 1st: Drive C:
x Press ESC
Applies to fit-PC Slim Linux
When fit-PC powers up it displays Grub menu to select booting x Select Write to CMOS and Exit
either Ubuntu or Gentoo. If no selection is made, Ubuntu will
boot. Booting over Ethernet
Ubuntu login x Setup a PXE server on your LAN
Username: fit x Connect Ethernet cable to fit-PC Slim
Password: 111111 x Enter BIOS Setup
Gentoo login x Select Custom Configuration
Username: root x Select Etherboot: Enabled
Password: 111111 x Press Esc
x Select Write to CMOS and Exit
Booting Windows XP
Applies to fit-PC Slim XP Installing Hard Disk
On first power-up you will be guided through Windows Welcome

x Open 2 Phillips screws on the back panel of the fit-PC x Download the fit-PC Slim BIOS to your host PC

x Disconnect the IDE cable by pushing a blunt x Select Start Etherlink
screwdriver behind the IDE cable and rocking it gently x Select Configure
until IDE cable disconnects x Select Set IP address of the tftp server and enter host
x Pull out HDD PC IP address
x Place a new HDD in bay and firmly connect IDE cable x Select Set bios image file name and enter the file
x Replace the front panel and tighten the screws name of the BIOS you downloaded before
x Select Return to main menu
Updating BIOS x Select Download bios image
x Select Quit Etherlink and reboot
Warning: Updating BIOS is a risky procedure that may make
your fit-PC Slim unusable. Do not do this unless CompuLab
advises you to.

x CompuLab guarantees products against defects in workmanship and material for a period of 12 months from the date of
shipment.
x Your sole remedy and CompuLab’s sole liability shall be for CompuLab, at its sole discretion, to either repair or replace the
defective product at no charge.
x This warranty is void if the product has been altered or damaged by accident, misuse or abuse.
