Adidas Is Turning Ocean Trashes Into Sneaker

According to the United Nations, more than 220 million tons of plastic are
produced each year globally, and very little is recycled or disposed of properly. Plastic
doesn’t biodegrade, and instead breaks down and accumulates in our oceans as literally
millions of tiny particles that are deadly to marine animals and birds. As Adidas mission
statement reflects on the efforts of the company to produce products that match to no
other in the market, especially the target is on uniqueness customized to give its
customers an advantage in what they do as they are using them while also becoming
sustainably responsible. A partial solution to this mass-scale environmental issue comes
from an unlikely collaboration between Adidas and eco-awareness organization Parley for
the Oceans. Adidas and Parley are working together not only to increase awareness of
plastic pollution and its dire effects on the marine environment, but also recycle all that
discarded waste into futuristic new footwear. Adidas emphasis its vision on the leadership
position the company seeks by dominating the sports market globally, and to do this
Adidas has committed to completely freeing its facilities of single-use plastic items like
plastic bags, and has initiated a mass plastic collection scheme that aims to prevent
discarded consumer plastic from entering the ocean––and instead turn it into shoes.

Adidas' sustainable footwear initiative is growing legs.I think the company efforts
towards it’s goal to fully eliminating waste from the production process, essentially
enabling the refurbishment of the same shoe over and over again, can be a good starting
point for eliminating and controlling the growingly increasing trashes in our environment
especially in our oceans. This will not only helps the adidas promotions towards eco-
friendly products and in preserving our natural resources, but also exceeding expectations
by improving sports through creative innovations. Clean ocean means clean food, better
tourist means greater economy. As a conscious consumer, I appreciate the efforts of
Adidas being the design leader that boost athletes, I feel more comfortable and proud
when I wear my shoes, thinking that it is made through an environmentally responsible
recycling production processes. As Adidas maintains future teams or group of
professionals from different disciplines that study new material, scientific research, and
consumer insights they engage in frequent communication with the company’s material
and sourcing teams. It’s no wonder that just by looking at the shoes, they are nearly
indistinguishable from a normal pair of Adidas shoes, but the hidden benefits of how
they're made could have lasting implications on the future of footwear. Even through the
physical product I can see core values of performance, passion, integrity and diversity that
my sneaker is made of entirely from a highly versatile and reusable thermoplastic
polyurethane, which can be used to create any number of materials, from yarn to a mold.
The materials used also allows for easy glue removal, which aids in improved recycling
practices. These shoes is also produced by the Adidas Speedfactory, which is fully
automated facility that has already served to reduce production hours and waste. But
according to my research the company also has broader aims than just recycling plastic
that has already been discarded by consumers, they want to change how we think about
plastic in the first place––and maybe find an alternative to it that isn’t so lethal to the
planet.

By starting at huge companies, a huge consumer of plastic product I think there

will be a significant changes over time regarding of how all companies will be making
shoes in the future when the traditional petroleum-heavy methods become far too costly.
It's a glimpse at a sustainable future, where sneakers made from ocean plastic won't just
be limited to special collections. And as I sneakerhead I will be happy to fashion now.
