The contents of the Project/Assignments are as follows-

1). Draw a Flow Process Chart for any Process you are familiar with. Describe the measures, quality check
etc. Describe the improvement made the process in the past (if any)

Topic : GLASS MANUFACTURING UNIT

2) Describe any three industries where change in standards have significantly affected operations

i. Appliance Industry - Energy Consumption labelling declaration

Standards by the Director Generalof Bureau of Energy Efficecienty.

ii. AUTOBILE INDUSTRY - FOUR WHEELER - Emission Standards by instituted by

the Government of the Republic of India

iii. FOOD INDUSTRY - VEGETARIAN & NON VEGETARIAN DELCARATION ON PACKED FOOD.

I. PROCESS FLOW CHART FOR GLASS MANUFACTURING UNIT

CHANGES MADE IN MANUFACTURING PROCESS CORRECTED EFFECTIVENESS.

The heat stress on the workers depends on four environmental factors, namely the air
temperature, humidity, mean temperature of the surrounding area and air movement. To
assess the hazard, heat stress indices have been defined. Three heat stress indices
generally used are Corrected Effective
Temperature (CET), Mean Radiant Temperature (MRT), and Wet Bulb Globe
Temperature(WBGT). The American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists
(ACGIH, 1999)relates WBGT and workload to arrive at a Threshold Limit Value (TLV) for
continuous workand work with varying duration of rest periods. In the present study CET,
MRT and WBGThave been estimated at different locations in the glass bottle
manufacturing unit. The workload of workers in these locations has been assessed as
prescribed by ACGIH. Based on WBGT and workload, rest periods for workers in these
areas havebeen assessed.
Three industries where change in standards have significantly affected
operations
I – Appliance Industry
Implementation of Energy Consumption labelling declaration Standards by the
Director Generalof Bureau of Energy Efficecienty , had significantly affected the
operations process of appliance industry . Specifications and Standards are on the
breifed lines

Bharat Stage emissions standards are emissions standards instituted by the Government of the
Republic of India (Bharat) that regulate the output of air pollutants (such as nitrogen oxides
(NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC), particulate matter (PM), soot, and, where
applicable, sulfur oxides (SOx)) by internal combustion engine powered equipment, including
motor vehicles, or other air polluting facilities or equipment.

The above standards apply to all new 4-wheel vehicles sold and registered in the respective
regions. In addition, the National Auto Fuel Policy introduces certain emission requirements for
interstate buses with routes originating or terminating in Delhi or the other 10 cities. To meet
these new standard Automobile company have significantly changed its operations strategy as
they need to change the design of components responsible for emission to meet new emission
regulations.
