How to Connect to the ‘The Cloud’ WiFi at Nuffield College

If you have used The Cloud elsewhere (e.g. a public place or railway station) simply connect as before. There is no
need to register (create a new username and password) again.

1. Connect to 'The Cloud' under your devices (available) wireless options.


2. Open your web browser and refresh the page. This will take you to the 'The Cloud' home page.
(If you do not see the home page, enter a full (but short) web address, such as www.bbc.co.uk to trigger this).
3. You should be presented with the following page

4. Click the 'Go' icon.


5. Register or Login (if you already have a The Cloud account) on the Home page.
6. Once registered successfully you are then connected.
o You will be logged off automatically after 15 minutes of inactivity.
o Once disconnected you have to log back in.
o This service is free of charge.

Troubleshooting tips:
If The Cloud landing page does not present itself, please type https://service.thecloud.net into your web address field.
Clear your web browser history.
Try an alternative web browser.

Further Troubleshooting

Apple OSX
Settings - safari - accept cookies "always" Also it may help if you clear your History, Cookies and Cache all in the
Safari tab in Settings also.

Android
Open a browser Menu>more>settings then clear cache, and clear all cookie data. Also click to 'Accept Cookies'

Windows
Open Browser Menu>Tools>internet Options>General>Browsing History>Delete

BlackBerry
Open the browser options screen.
Scroll down to General Properties and click to open.
Click to open the Cache menu.
Scroll down to Clear Content Caches and click to clear the cache and Return to the General Properties screen.

Apple OSX

• Check your WiFi is on by selecting 'Settings' from the home screen and selecting 'WiFi'.
• If you are in coverage of a The Cloud hotspot, you will be offered 'The Cloud', select this SSID to connect.
• Now return to the home screen and select 'Safari', you will see The Cloud landing page. If you don't click to
refresh the page.
• Now simply select 'Get Online' and follow the onscreen instructions.
• When the WiFi session is established, you will see 'welcome to The Cloud' and the session counter displays the
session time. You can now begin your WiFi browsing session.

Android

• Turn on your device and check that Wi-Fi is switched on. You can so this by clicking 'settings', then 'wireless and
networks'. Select the tick box to turn on WiFi.
• Select 'The Cloud' from the available network list, you will then connect automatically.
• Open your internet browser and The Cloud landing page will appear. Please click the 'Get online' button to login or
if it's your first time with The Cloud you will need to follow the simple one time registration process.

Windows

• Click the on wireless icon on the right hand side at the bottom of your device.
• Select 'The Cloud' and click connect.
• The below box will appear to show that you are being connected to The Cloud.
• Once you have connected open your web browser and The Cloud's landing page will appear. Simply hit the "Get
online" button to get access to The Cloud.

Blackberry

• Turn on your device and check that WiFi is switched on. You can do this by going into the 'manage
connections' option on your meu screen and then checking 'WiFi'
• If Cloud WiFi is not detected automatically then select 'set up WiFi network'. Follow the on-screen instructions
selecting 'WiFi Zone - The Cloud' or 'The Cloud' from the available network list when prompted.
• Open your internet browser. If you do not have a Cloud account you will be presented with The Cloud landing page.
Please click the 'Get online' button to login or if it's your first time with The Cloud you will need to follow the simple
one time registration process.
