LEARNING COMPETENCY:
Realize that intersubjectivity requires accepting differences and not to imposing on
others (PPT11/12-IId-6.1).

I. OBJECTIVES: At the end of an hour lesson, the students must be able to:
1. explain what intersubjectivity, empathy and substitution are and their differences;
2. realize and appreciate the importance of intersubjectivity, empathy and
substitution in accepting differences;
3. Illustrate the concept of human reality’s intersubjectivty through an easy writing.

III. LEARNING ACTIVITIES/ PROCEDURES
A. Preliminary Activities
 Opening Prayer
 Greetings
 Checking of Attendance
B. Review:
What is freedom and how will you express your freedom in the family?
C. Motivation:
“THREAD OR YARN WEB”
Instruction:
 The teacher will let the students form a big circle.
 Ask one student to get the thread.
 The teacher will cite a situation, and let the student holding the thread to give the
other end of the thread to the student that describes the situation given. (For
example: connect the thread to the person whom you want to be friend). The
teacher will continue to cite a situation and continue to connect the thread.
(Note: Don’t break the thread connection)
Process Questions:
1. How do you understand the activity?
2. What did you feel when your classmate give you the thread?
3. How about those who did not receive the thread? How did you feel?
D. Presentation of the Lesson:
 The teacher will discuss about intersubjectivity, empathy, substitution and their
differences.
1. Discussion:
Intersubjectivity- can be described as a relationship between me and other.
Empathy- the ability to share someone else feeling or experiencing by
imagining what it would be like to be in that person’s situation.
Substitution- allows us to bear the weight of what the other is experiencing
and finding comfort in addressing the weakness and difficulties of the other.
Differences between empathy and substitution lie between from the I to the
other and back to the I while the other the I will go back to the other to
address its needs, and there’s no longer a movement back to I.

E. Developmental Activity:
The teacher will show a short video clip wherein he will ask the students to
relate the essence of the story that they have just watched and to what they
have reflected about the discussion.
1. What did you feel about the video presentation?
2. What is your realization about the situation shown in the video?
F. Synthesis/Generalization:
The teacher will allow the students to come up to the following generalizations:
 We need intersubjectivity for us to accept one’s differences and respect one
another.
 Being human means we are in relation with other human beings who might be
different from us.
 To love others as we do ourselves.
 Treat people the way you want to be treated.
 We need to experience substitution as part of our responsibility towards our fellow
human being.

IV. EVALUATION
Essay

How essential is our establishing of good relationship with others despite our
differences? Write your answer in a half sheet of paper.
Rubric Scoring for Explanation:

- Explained clearly and adequately (15 pts.)

- Explained fairly. (10pts)

- vaguely explained (5pts)


V. HOMEWORK
• The teacher will ask the students to answer the question below.
Recall your relationship with others. Is it one sided understanding or mutual
acceptance of one another? Cite examples. Write your answer on your
activity notebook. Be ready for an oral recitation on the next meeting.
