1. What remnants of the Westphalian system can still be felt at this day and age ? In
what sense has the world gone beyond the Westphalian system?

ANSWER: the dominant remains of the westphalian system up until today is the
concept of sovereignty, tracing its history with agreements signed in 1864 that ends
the war, not until challenged by Bonaparte and killed in Waterloo that paves way to
revival of westphalian but still collapsed. Despite the challenged of Napoleon
Bonaparte at this present day Westphalian system has its footprint that is evident in
different states today considering sovereignty. Wesphalian still hold the significant
influence in a world of politics For Example the United Nations as product of this
decides through councils decision process.

The world gone beyond the westphalian system (since it divides separate governance
with different sovereign entities) there have been attempts to transcend it that results
to hightened interaction between various sovereign states and the desire for greater
cooperation among people and state.

2. What are the differences between liberal and socialist internationalism? What are
their strengths and weaknessess?

Liberal internationalism is all about democracy, freedom to trade and the borderless
connection within states while the socialist internationalism believes they can
achieve goals through revolutions. They disagree with liberals free trade since they
do not accept idea of nationalism.

WEAKNESSES:
LIBERAL – intensified transactions within states making them interdependent giving
imperialist countries controls each border because of free trade.
SOCIALIST- takes power from the people and too much in government.

3. Do you think internationalization erodes the sovereignty of states?

No, internationalization does not erodes sovereignty of the states for now, although
many countries limits some aspects of sovereignty but for the gain from global
cooperation.
Remembering Robrt Cox’s definition “ the characteristics of the globalization trend
include internationalizing of production, the new internationalisation division labor
new migratory movement from south to north and the internationalizing of states”

This means each state is open or borderless with other states, but not necessarily
mean it erodes one’s sovereignty because each state has its own governing body,
rules and regulations/policies, the greatest impact of internationalization is applied
mainly to products or business that tends countries adjust but not eroding its
sovereignty.
