2010/2011 Compensation & Benefits Survey for

Expatriates and Local Plus Employees in China

Scope
The survey covers the following two categories:

• Employees who are relocated from one company location to China, and who are ordinarily expected
to return to home base or to proceed to another location.
Expatriates
• This category may include Hong Kong or other Asia countries employees who were relocated from
Hong Kong or other Asia countries and are expected to return on completing their assignment.

• Localized Employees: Employees who were originally employed as Expatriates who have chosen to
Local Plus Employees
extend their contract in China and are offered different employment conditions, OR
(Localized Employees / • Local-hired Foreigners: Foreigners or Hong Kong Employees recruited within mainland China, OR
Local-hired Foreigners /
Chinese Returnees) • Chinese Returnees: Local Chinese Nationals (with passport of other countries) who hold foreign
passports with overseas working experience who have returned to China and were recruited locally.
