Infectious Disease Response - Procedures

• ECS works closely with the School District’s Health Services Specialist and Support
Services department to provide infectious disease response services to schools and
ancillary facilities

• School Nurses monitor illness at school centers on a daily basis and follow a Florida
Department of Health (FDOH) protocol for reporting illness including infectious disease
incidents. FDOH epidemiology specialists review information provided by school
nurses and act accordingly

• The School District has a strong, successful professional relationship with FDOH and
immediately acts upon their official outbreak declarations using our Communicable
Disease Outbreak Reporting Guidelines for Palm Beach County School Health
Program

• The School District has internal custodial and food service sanitizing procedures that
are activated in response to official FDOH outbreaks

• ECS has five environmental consultants and six environmental contractors available
to provide Infectious Disease response services
