Present simple

Why do we use present simple?

We use the Present Simple for things that are true in general, or for things which are
repeated every day, every week, every year, etc.

 The earth goes around the sun.


 I usually get up at 8 o’clock.
 During the week I have: swimming practice on Mondays, I do taekwondo on
Tuesdays and tennis on Thursdays.
