Activity Based on
Organization Structure
Summary

The class exercise was quite engaging and enjoyable. We received some very important
insights from it which made us realize how there can be major malfunctions in organizations
when there is even the slightest of glitches between the planning and operating team.

As the task started initial time was taken by planning team in understanding and analyzing the
problem. Then ideas started to spring up from different members and the best possible trick
was chosen. It involved allocating various cutouts positions according to clock/watch numbers.
Necessary instructions that were to be conveyed to operating team were jotted down.

During the instructing period one member from the planning team swiftly explained entire
procedure step by step to all the members of operating team. After that members of planning
team personally talked with every operating team person to solve all the queries they had.

Once they understood the method operating team started to work on the problem and very
quickly arranged most of the square design. But an important assumption made by planning
team which was not communicated was that there were cutouts which had multiple similar
shapes in every group. And that abysmal miscommunication cost a lot of time to solve the
puzzle for operating team.

The entire task was carried out in a very lucid manner without any heated discussions,
arguments or troubles. The teams were distributed on the basis of their abilities and every
member gave inputs as per his potential to successfully complete the activity as soon as
possible.
