“Irish Music” by Elizabeth L.

Forrester

Songs of dear old Erin

Fill hearts everywhere
Its music shows they're caring
'specially for women fair

There's Annie and Mother Machree

Norah and Rosie O’Grady
There's Mary the Rose of Tralee
Eileen, who was quite a lady

Nancy Clancy, Molly Malone

My wild Irish rose
Molly O'Morgan all alone
Peggy O’Neil has her brogue

Molly Aroon with smiles

In Kathleen Mavourneen, she has power
In Macushla, she beguiles
Billie, she’s like a shamrock flower

The Irish men are men of strength

They like Colleens and work a lot
They fish, dance, play at length
Melodies with flute, tunes not forgot

There's Phil the fluther

Paddy Leary, never teary
Paddy Riley couldn't be cuter
Father 0’Flynn never weary

They are off to Tipperary

Hoped for on Connemara Shore
Boys named Timothy hear their moms sing
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral, too-ra-loo-ra-lie

Paddy McGinty's hungry goat

MacNamara leader of the band
Barney O'Heas impudence we note
O'Grady's whistle was grand

Let's toast to George M. Cohan

Harragin that’s you
We yearn for Glocca Morra's land
With streams running through

Danny Boy the whole world

Loves you as our own
As calling pipes unfurl
We are not alone
1
There's want for distant places
Kildaire, Derry, and Galway
Dublin’s smiling faces
The county fair, Sweet Quay

The days of the Kerry dancing

The River Shannon shore
Donegal, Dover, Mourne we're fancing
Isle of sea, sky, hills, we adore

When Irish eyes are smiling

Sure our hearts will melt away
Time is spent in whiling
With you there’s nere a nay

Look, look for Finian's rainbow

Sing a song when we're apart
Follow the dreams, wherever they flow
Keep Irish music in your heart.
