REFLECTION:

When I first started working on this project, I was not sure what to expect. In fact my first
mentor meeting consisted of me simply pouring out ideas without taking into consideration their
viability. My mentor and I struggled to pick an idea from the many we thought of, and turn it
into a product. However my mentor made the whole process easier by being calm and patient
with me. I was not that anxious for the research paper as personally I love to write, the product is
where all the anxiety was rooted from. However, with an amazing teacher, principle, mentor, and
support system, coming up with a product was not as hard as I perceived it to be.

I encountered trouble when it came to collecting data but luckily with the help of Mrs. Sebik and
the cooperation of my fellow peers in high school I was able to do so. Mrs. Sebik even went as
far as to accompany me during an interview with a psychiatrist as I was very nervous. I was
always fascinated by mental health and fitness, and I loved exploring how interrelated they are. It
only proved to me that Islam is a hollistic relgion that involves itself in way of life for the
purpose of better quality of life in the Dunya and the Hereafter.

I learned that I need to be able to prioritize and stick to my schedule, as I am someone who is
often considered a “workaholic” and that can affect my own mental health at times. This taught
me that sometimes overworking can lead to burn out and it affects the quality of the project or
assignment, this is something I intend to work on in the future. This project only emphasized to
me the relevance of Islam in every single aspect of life and left me in even more awe of my
beautiful religion.

As for self evaluation, I would give myself an A-, I think I worked really hard on this project
however I feel if I dedicated more time to things I could have done better. My advice to next
year's senior class is to stick to a schedule and get things done in steps. Little efforts will add up
to big results and that will make all the difference when working on your senior project. I intend
to hang my poster up somewhere in efforts to give my project a “footprint” in my school. I love
my school, it is my home and I will be making regular visits and would love to help out in any
way I can.
